Interior Design CAD Drafter / Space Planning Specialist We are a residential interior design firm seeking an experienced freelance Interior Design CAD Drafter to support our team with space planning, furniture layouts, and technical drawings for high-end residential projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of residential interiors and spatial planning—not just CAD drafting. We’re looking for someone who can take existing architectural plans, site measurements, and design direction and thoughtfully develop layouts that consider furniture scale, circulation, functionality, and the way a space will actually be used. Responsibilities *Develop thoughtful furniture and space plans based on architectural drawings, dimensions, and project requirements * Create and revise AutoCAD floor plans * Explore multiple layout options when needed to determine the strongest use of a space * Accurately place furniture, rugs, lighting, and other key elements to scale * Consider circulation, clearances, sightlines, architectural constraints, and overall functionality * Update drawings throughout the design process as selections and layouts evolve * Assist with additional interior elevations and technical drawings as needed * Work from our design direction, markups, specifications, and reference materials * Maintain organized, accurate CAD files and drawing standards Ideal Candidate * Professional experience drafting for an interior design or architecture firm * Strong proficiency in AutoCAD * Excellent understanding of residential space planning, furniture scale, and clearances * Able to look at a floor plan and identify opportunities to improve flow and functionality * Experience with high-end residential interiors strongly preferred * Detail-oriented and highly accurate * Comfortable receiving redlines and turning around revisions efficiently * Able to work independently while following an established design vision * Reliable communicator with strong time-management skills Project Structure This is a freelance/contract position with the potential for ongoing work. Projects and hours may vary depending on our current workload. We are particularly interested in developing a relationship with someone who can become a reliable extension of our design team for ongoing space planning and drafting needs.
