# Job Description: Automation Engineer (Playwright) ## Position Overview We are seeking an experienced **Automation Engineer** to design, develop, and maintain robust automation solutions using Playwright. You will work on building scalable web automation infrastructure, implementing end-to-end testing frameworks, and developing automation tools that improve operational efficiency across our platform. --- ## Key Responsibilities ### Core Automation Development - Design and develop Playwright-based automation scripts for web scraping, testing, and process automation - Build and maintain comprehensive test suites for web applications with strong coverage and reliability - Create reusable automation frameworks and utilities for cross-project use - Implement best practices for test architecture, including POM (Page Object Model), fixture management, and test data strategies - Develop browser automation solutions for complex workflows and third-party system integrations ### Infrastructure & Tooling - Set up and manage testing infrastructure including CI/CD pipeline integration - Implement browser-based automation with headless and headed browser management - Work with Browserbase, Playwright Cloud, or similar services for scalable automation - Develop debugging and monitoring solutions for automation failures - Create documentation and templates for automation standards ### Quality & Performance - Ensure automation scripts are maintainable, efficient, and handle edge cases - Implement error handling, retry logic, and resilience patterns - Perform root cause analysis on test failures and automation issues - Monitor and optimize automation performance and runtime efficiency - Contribute to reducing flaky tests and improving reliability ### Collaboration - Work closely with developers, QA teams, and product stakeholders - Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions - Document automation strategies, technical decisions, and runbooks - Support manual QA teams with automation best practices --- ## Required Qualifications ### Technical Skills - **Playwright Expertise** (2+ years) - Proficiency in Playwright JavaScript/Python API - Strong understanding of browser automation, selectors, and waits - Experience with fixtures, test parallelization, and debugging - Knowledge of Playwright Inspector and DevTools integration - **Programming** - Fluent in JavaScript/TypeScript OR Python (TypeScript strongly preferred) - Solid understanding of async/await patterns and error handling - Experience with modern development workflows (Git, branching, PRs) - **Testing Framework Experience** - Familiarity with test frameworks (Jest, Pytest, or similar) - Understanding of test architecture patterns and best practices - Experience with assertion libraries and reporting - **Web Technologies** - Solid understanding of HTTP, APIs, and browser networking - Knowledge of web authentication (OAuth, sessions, cookies) - Familiarity with browser DevTools and network inspection - Experience with HTML/CSS selectors and DOM manipulation ### Experience - 2+ years of QA automation or automation engineering experience - Proven track record building automation solutions for complex applications - Experience with CI/CD integration (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.) - Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative development - Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail --- ## Nice-to-Have Qualifications - Experience with API testing and REST/GraphQL clients - Knowledge of web scraping best practices and ethical considerations - Experience with cloud-based testing platforms (Browserbase, BrowserStack, Sauce Labs) - Familiarity with containerization (Docker) or orchestration tools - Background in software development or full-stack development - Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, etc.) -
