B2B Editor
Worldwide
B2B Content Editor Location: Remote (US, UK, South Africa preferred) Type: Part-time Contractor, approximately 10–20 hours per week About the Role We’re looking for an experienced B2B Content Editor who can turn AI-assisted drafts into polished, credible, client-ready content. The content you edit may originate in ChatGPT, Claude, our internal ContentOps platform, a strategist’s rough outline, an SME interview, or an existing piece of client content. Regardless of where the first draft comes from, your job is to make sure the final product reflects real human judgment, a clear point of view, and a strong understanding of the client’s business. This is not strictly a proofreading role. We need someone who can recognize when a draft is grammatically correct but strategically weak—generic positioning, repetitive ideas, awkward transitions, unsupported claims, vague language, or copy that technically says the right things without sounding like anyone would actually say them. The goal is simple: our clients should receive content that feels specific to their business, consistent with their voice, and thoughtfully developed—not content that feels like someone typed a prompt and hit publish. We don’t want an editor who waits for a perfect draft. We want someone who can work from incomplete source material, identify what is missing, make confident editorial decisions, and turn rough inputs into strong B2B marketing content. Key Responsibilities B2B Content Editing -Edit and improve a range of B2B marketing content, including blog articles, executive thought leadership, case studies, ebooks, reports, white papers, newsletters, sales enablement assets, and social content. -Edit conversion-focused copy for websites, landing pages, paid ads, email campaigns, and other demand-generation programs. -Perform both line editing and substantive editing—improving structure, argument, clarity, pacing, voice, and persuasiveness rather than focusing only on grammar. -Rewrite sections when necessary to make complex or technical ideas easier to understand without stripping away their substance. -Strengthen headlines, introductions, transitions, calls to action, and content hierarchy. -Ensure every deliverable aligns with the client’s positioning, audience, brand voice, and strategic objectives. -Remove generic language, filler, repetition, clichés, unnecessary jargon, and common patterns associated with unedited AI content. -Flag questionable facts, unsupported claims, source gaps, inconsistencies, or areas where additional subject-matter expertise is needed. -Maintain consistency across related assets and ongoing client content programs. AI-Native Editorial Workflow -Regularly edit content produced with ChatGPT, Claude, ContentOps, and other AI-assisted writing tools. -Understand the strengths and limitations of AI-generated content, including its tendency to overgeneralize, repeat itself, flatten brand voice, and present weak ideas with unnecessary confidence. -Use AI tools where they improve the editorial process, while knowing when human rewriting and judgment are required. -Compare drafts against source materials such as interviews, transcripts, strategy documents, research, client websites, and brand guidelines. -Help develop editorial standards for AI-assisted content across the agency. -Identify recurring quality issues and provide feedback that improves ContentOps prompts, templates, instructions, and workflows. -Contribute to internal resources such as editorial checklists, voice guidelines, quality-control standards, and examples of strong before-and-after edits. Working from Briefs and Source Material -Take a content brief, strategy document, SME transcript, podcast episode, rough outline, or scrappy Slack message and turn it into clear editorial direction. -Quickly understand unfamiliar B2B companies, audiences, products, and industries. -Ask sharp clarifying questions early when the strategy, audience, argument, or source material is unclear. -Make confident editorial decisions rather than leaving every issue as a comment for someone else to resolve. -Preserve the original strategy and subject-matter expertise while materially improving how the ideas are communicated. -Balance editorial quality with practical deadlines and production requirements. Collaboration -Partner with content strategists, writers, account teams, SEO/AEO/GEO specialists, paid media, design, and web teams across our agency group. -Incorporate feedback from multiple internal and client stakeholders without allowing the content to become disjointed or diluted. -Explain significant editorial decisions clearly and constructively. -Occasionally participate in internal or client conversations when additional context is needed. -Help raise the editorial bar across the portfolio by speaking up when content is unclear, generic, inaccurate, or not ready for a client. Required Skills Editorial Craft -4+ years of professional writing or editing experience, with a meaningful portion focused on B2B content. -Strong portfolio demonstrating edited or written B2B marketing content. -Advanced command of grammar, structure, syntax, tone, clarity, and narrative flow. -Ability to perform substantive edits and rewrites, not just copyediting and proofreading. -Strong understanding of how content should change based on format, audience, funnel stage, and business objective. -Ability to preserve a writer’s or client’s voice while making the content materially stronger. -Excellent judgment around what should be rewritten, what should be preserved, and what requires additional information. -Experience working within brand, messaging, or editorial guidelines. B2B Fluency -You understand that B2B content is written for complex buying decisions, multiple stakeholders, and longer sales cycles—not impulse purchases. -You can translate technical positioning and subject-matter expertise into content that is understandable without becoming superficial. -You understand the differences between thought leadership, educational content, SEO content, conversion copy, and sales enablement. -You can identify the actual argument or insight inside a rough draft and bring it forward. -You are comfortable working across B2B technology, SaaS, IT services, professional services, and other complex industries. AI Fluency -Hands-on experience using and editing content from ChatGPT, Claude, or comparable generative AI tools. -A clear point of view on where AI improves content production and where it creates editorial risk. -Ability to spot common AI writing patterns without relying on simplistic AI-detection tools. -Comfortable working in a production environment where AI creates the starting point, but human editorial judgment determines the finished product. -Interested in helping improve the systems that produce the drafts—not simply correcting the same problems repeatedly. Bonus Experience Not required, but highly valuable Experience editing content for B2B SaaS, IT, cybersecurity, data, AI, manufacturing, or professional-services companies. SEO, AEO, or GEO content experience. -Experience editing executive thought leadership or ghostwritten content. -Experience turning podcasts, interviews, webinars, or SME conversations into written content. -Conversion copywriting experience for paid ads, landing pages, websites, and email campaigns. -Familiarity with content operations platforms, prompt libraries, custom GPTs, or AI-assisted editorial workflows. -Agency experience managing multiple clients, deadlines, voices, and review cycles simultaneously. -Experience developing editorial guidelines or training other writers and editors. Soft Skills -Self-directed and proactive—you do not wait for someone to hand you a perfect draft. -Comfortable making decisions and taking ownership of the final quality of the work. -Detail-oriented without losing sight of the larger argument, audience, and business objective. -Curious about the companies you are editing for and willing to learn how their products, customers, and industries actually work. -Direct but constructive when explaining why something needs to change. -Comfortable receiving feedback and revising without ego. -Able to move between deep editorial work and fast-turnaround production assignments. -Thrives in a high-velocity environment with multiple simultaneous projects and clients. -Dependable about availability, deadlines, and communication within a part-time schedule. What Success Looks Like In the first 60–90 days, you will: -Consistently turn AI-assisted and rough-draft content into polished work that is ready for client review. -Reduce the amount of generic, repetitive, or overly formulaic language in our content. -Learn and accurately apply the voices, positioning, and editorial expectations of several different clients. -Improve the quality and consistency of copy across long-form content, websites, ads, and other marketing assets. -Establish a reliable editorial quality-control process for content produced through ContentOps and other AI tools. -Identify recurring issues in our AI-generated drafts and help improve the prompts, instructions, templates, and workflows behind them. -Become a trusted final set of eyes for content that needs to be both strategically sound and professionally written. Why Work With Us We are building an AI-powered agency ecosystem that combines strategy, content, creative, paid media, web, and marketing operations.
