Bilingual Documentary Coordinating Producer / Project Manager — 6-Week Completion Sprint
Worldwide
Bilingual Documentary Coordinating Producer / Project Manager — 6–8 Week Engagement We are seeking an exceptionally organized, proactive bilingual English/Spanish coordinating producer or project manager with film/documentary experience to help move a feature documentary into its final phase of production. The film has been shot on and off over approximately ten years in Xochimilco, Mexico City, following multiple generations of a chinampero family working to preserve their agricultural livelihood and traditions amid environmental, economic, and cultural change. We have substantial existing footage, an editor currently working on the project, and a targeted completion shoot planned in Mexico City for October. We are not looking for someone to take over the creative direction of the film. We need someone who is excellent at organization, accountability, communication, and follow-through. Someone who can help turn a complex, long-running project into a clear and manageable path toward completion. Responsibilities • Create and maintain a realistic 6–8 week production/completion schedule • Coordinate deliverables between director, producer, editor, and other collaborators • Hold short weekly accountability/check-in meetings and follow up on outstanding tasks • Work closely with our editor to identify what materials, footage, selects, transcripts, or information he needs • Help identify and track remaining story and production gaps • Develop and maintain a prioritized list for our October Mexico City shoot • Track interviews, releases, archival needs, contacts, logistics, and other outstanding production items • Help keep the team focused on completion and prevent unnecessary scope expansion • Clearly assign ownership and deadlines for outstanding tasks • Help prepare the production so that our October shoot is targeted and efficient Ideal Candidate • Fluent or highly proficient in both English and Spanish • Professional experience in documentary film, independent film, or nonfiction production • Extremely organized and comfortable managing creative people and evolving projects • Strong follow-through. You are comfortable politely but persistently chasing deliverables • Familiarity with documentary post-production workflows is strongly preferred • Comfortable collaborating remotely with team members in the U.S. and Mexico • Mexico City-based or experienced with production in Mexico is a major plus The existing team has deep history with the project, but we recognize that we need stronger external structure and accountability as we move toward completion. We are looking for someone who enjoys bringing clarity and momentum to complicated creative projects. Engagement Approximately 5–10 hours per week for an initial 6–8 week period, with the possibility of continuing through our October production period. We would ideally begin with a paid one-week trial to make sure the working relationship is a good fit. When applying, please briefly tell us: Your documentary or film-production experience Your English/Spanish proficiency Your experience coordinating projects through post-production or completion Your location/time zone Your availability over the next 6–8 weeks An example of a complicated project you helped get organized and across the finish line
