# Black & White Pencil Illustrator for Fatherhood Book I am developing **The Good Daddy Playbook**, a practical book for fathers organized around simple activities—or "plays"—that dads can do with their children. The book uses a football/playbook theme as its organizing structure, but the illustrations themselves will primarily depict **everyday father-and-child moments**, rather than football imagery. ## Illustration Style I'm looking for a style that feels: **Warm • Simple • Slightly Imperfect • Hand-Drawn • Timeless** The illustrations should have the feel of a traditional **black-and-white pencil or pen-and-ink sketch**. They should feel warm and authentic, with enough detail to tell the story without becoming overly elaborate. I've attached three sample sketches that represent the general visual direction I'm considering. **These are references for style and simplicity, not artwork to be copied.** I'm interested in seeing your own interpretation within this general aesthetic. The father/child relationship and emotion of the moment are more important than detailed backgrounds or elaborate compositions. ## The Test Project I plan to hire **2–3 illustrators to complete the same paid test assignment**. From those samples, I hope to select one illustrator for the larger project, which is expected to include approximately **50–60 illustrations**. ### Test Illustration: "The Laugh Track" **The Play:** Laugh at their jokes—even the ones that don't make any sense. Encourage every knock-knock joke, made-up story, and punchline they can't quite deliver. **The Scene:** Create a simple illustration showing a father genuinely laughing with a young child who is enthusiastically telling him a joke or funny story. The interaction between them should be the focus. The scene should feel natural, affectionate and playful—not posed or overly sentimental.
