# Bolster Build / CostCertified Construction Estimator — Sales & Proposal Support **Hands-on experience with Bolster Build, formerly known as CostCertified, is an absolute requirement for this position.** Please do not apply unless you have direct experience navigating **Bolster Build / CostCertified** and using the platform to prepare construction estimates, job costing, quotes, and client-facing proposals. We are a growing residential design-build and remodeling company looking for an experienced **Bolster Build / CostCertified Construction Estimator** who will work **in tandem with our sales team to develop proposals for prospective clients.** This is not a back-office estimating role where you receive a completed scope and simply enter numbers. You will actively partner with our salesperson throughout the proposal-development process to make sure each project is properly scoped, costed, priced, and presented. ## The Role As our salesperson works with a prospective client, you will collaborate with them to develop the project scope and proposal inside **Bolster Build / CostCertified**. You will: * Work directly with our salesperson to develop each proposal * Review client consultation notes, photos, measurements, plans, requested finishes, and project requirements * Provide the salesperson with **guiding and clarification questions** that need to be answered during proposal development * Identify missing scope, potential cost exposures, and items that require further clarification * Navigate and manage the estimating workflow within **Bolster Build / CostCertified** * Build project estimates in Bolster while working alongside the sales team * Accurately calculate labor, materials, subcontractor costs, allowances, and other direct project costs * Ensure accurate **job costing and appropriate project margins** * Develop detailed scopes of work * Structure pricing, selections, allowances, exclusions, and upgrades appropriately * Generate the **final client-facing proposal directly within Bolster** * Revise proposals alongside the salesperson as the client's scope, selections, or budget changes * Help the sales team determine where scope or pricing can be adjusted when a client is trying to reach a specific budget * Ensure the final proposal accurately reflects what was discussed with the homeowner before it is presented ## How You Will Work With Sales We want the estimator and salesperson working together rather than operating as separate departments. For example, if our salesperson is discussing a bathroom remodel and sends you the initial project information, we expect you to identify questions such as: * Are plumbing fixtures remaining in their existing locations? * Are we using a prefabricated shower base or tiled shower floor? * Is new ventilation required? * What level of tile and finish allowance should be included? * Is electrical relocation required? * Are there structural or framing modifications? * Are fixtures client-supplied or contractor-supplied? Those questions go back to the salesperson so they can clarify the scope with the homeowner **while the proposal is being developed**. The goal is for sales and estimating to collaboratively produce a proposal that is **complete, accurate, profitable, and ready to close.** ## Absolute Requirements You must have direct experience with: * **Bolster Build and/or CostCertified** * Navigating the platform independently * Building estimates within Bolster / CostCertified * Creating and modifying client proposals * Construction job costing * Labor and material pricing * Subcontractor costing * Maintaining appropriate gross margins * Residential remodeling estimating * Developing detailed scopes of work * Working collaboratively with a salesperson or preconstruction team **General construction estimating experience without direct Bolster Build or CostCertified experience is not sufficient.** We need someone who already understands the platform and can contribute to our sales and estimating process without having to learn the software from scratch. ## Project Types Our projects primarily include: * Bathroom remodels * Kitchen remodels * Interior renovations * Additions * Carpentry and finish work * Residential design-build projects ## Volume & Availability We are looking for someone capable of producing approximately **2–4 estimates/proposals per business day**, depending on project complexity. The initial commitment is a **minimum of 5 hours per week**, with the opportunity for significantly more work as volume increases. Fast turnaround and reliable communication are important. Our goal is generally to have proposals developed within **24 hours of receiving the necessary project information.** ## Who Will Be Successful in This Role We are looking for someone who understands both **construction economics and the sales process**. You should be comfortable telling our salesperson: **“I can build this proposal, but before we price it I need clarification on these items.”** You should also be able to help answer questions such as: * Are we missing anything from the scope? * Is this project properly costed? * Are our margins correct? * Where can we modify the scope to reach the client's budget? * Should an item be included, excluded, or presented as an upgrade? * Does the final proposal accurately represent what we are committing to deliver? You are helping our sales team turn a homeowner consultation into a **well-scoped, accurately costed, professionally presented Bolster proposal.** ## To Apply Please answer all of the following: 1. **How long have you actively used Bolster Build or CostCertified?** 2. **Did you use the platform when it was known as CostCertified, after it became Bolster Build, or both?** 3. If the salesperson provides incomplete information, how do you determine which questions need to be answered before the proposal can be completed? 8. How do you verify that labor, material, subcontractor, and other project costs are properly accounted for while maintaining the required project margin? 9. How many residential proposals can you realistically complete per day? 10. Can you commit to a minimum of **5 hours per week**, with the ability to take on additional hours as our sales volume grows?
