We are seeking an experienced book interior designer/typesetter to professionally prepare a completed middle-grade nonfiction manuscript for print and digital publication. Project Overview * Final locked manuscript: approximately 130 Microsoft Word pages, including four source-document blank pages * Trim size: 6 × 9 inches * Interior: black-and-white/grayscale on cream paper * Structure: 2 parts, 13 chapters, approximately 118 internal subheadings * Front and back matter included * 7 approved figures * Audience: ages 11–14 * Reference interior provided for the required series design style The final print page count will be determined through professional typesetting and must not be forced by deleting content, reducing readability, or compressing figures. Required Interior Production * Consistent professional styling of body text, leading, headings, subheadings, chapter openers, paragraph styles, spacing, and page composition * Chapter openers on right-hand/recto pages where appropriate * Consistent running headers and bottom-outer page numbers * Standardized implementation of three recurring callout-box styles * Professional handling of front matter, pagination, recto/verso conventions, intentional blank pages, page breaks, widows, orphans, alignment, and spacing * Incorporation of all approved grayscale figures, with separate 300 DPI production files * Final production QC and correction of layout, preflight, EPUB, and platform-validation issues Required Deliverables * IngramSpark paperback and hardcover interior PDFs * KDP paperback and hardcover interior PDFs * Print PDFs compliant with applicable platform requirements, including PDF/X-1a and embedded fonts where required * Validated reflowable EPUB 3 * Packaged Adobe InDesign source files * IDML interchange file * Packaged document fonts and linked graphic assets * Editable EPUB source files * Preflight and EPUB/platform-validation reports The designer must have demonstrated experience with IngramSpark, KDP, professional 6 × 9 interiors, EPUB production, recto/verso pagination, grayscale figure preparation, Adobe InDesign packaging, and platform validation. The manuscript is fully edited and locked. No rewriting, copyediting, content removal, or unauthorized design changes are permitted. This is a work-made-for-hire assignment governed by confidentiality requirements. Please provide relevant samples, estimated completion time, and confirmation that all required platform-validation corrections are included. An NDA is required before any confidential information or project files are shared.
