Book Manuscript Proofreader & Editor Needed (Final Review Before Publishing) We are looking for an experienced book editor and proofreader to perform a comprehensive final review of our nonfiction manuscript before it is published. The manuscript is nearly complete, and we need someone with exceptional attention to detail who can ensure it is polished, professional, and ready for publication. I. Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include: a. Thorough proofreading for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax b. Copy editing to improve clarity, readability, and sentence flow without changing the author's voice c. Checking for consistency in capitalization, terminology, formatting, headings, and style throughout the manuscript d. Identifying awkward wording, repetitive language, and unclear passages e. Reviewing chapter structure and overall readability f. Verifying that the manuscript follows professional publishing standards g. Reviewing the formatting for Amazon KDP compatibility and identifying any issues before publication h. Providing all edits and suggestions using Microsoft Word Our goal is to receive a manuscript that is fully polished and ready to send to our formatter and publisher. II. Required Qualifications We're looking for someone who has: 1. Proven experience editing and proofreading full-length nonfiction books 2. Excellent command of English grammar and style 3. Experience preparing manuscripts for Amazon KDP or other publishing platforms 4. Strong attention to detail 5. A portfolio or examples of previous book editing projects Positive client reviews on Upwork Experience editing books in the self-help, personal development, business, leadership, or psychology genres is a strong advantage. III. Deliverables At the end of the project, we expect: 1. A fully edited manuscript with all suggested changes tracked 2. A clean list of any major issues or recommendations that should be addressed before publishing 3. Confirmation that the manuscript is ready for final formatting and publication, or a list of any remaining concerns IV.
