Part-Time Bookkeeper for Public Adjusting Firm (10 hrs/week, Ongoing) Job Description Blue Star Adjusters is a public adjusting firm advocating for policyholders on complex property insurance claims — fire, water, wildfire, and large-loss losses — across California and beyond. When homeowners and business owners are underpaid or denied by their insurance carrier, we step in and fight for a fair settlement. We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day finances on an ongoing, part-time basis (~10 hours/week). This is recurring work, not a one-off project — we want someone who can stick around and grow with us. What You'll Do - Record and categorize income and expenses regularly - Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly - Track accounts receivable (client settlement fees, outstanding invoices) and accounts payable - Maintain organized digital records for tax and audit purposes - Prepare monthly financial summaries (P&L, cash flow) - Coordinate with our CPA/tax preparer at quarter- and year-end - Proactively flag discrepancies or cash flow concerns What We're Looking For - 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally with a small business or professional services firm - Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online preferred) - Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal oversight - Clear, proactive communicator - Experience in insurance, legal, or another claims-adjacent industry is a plus Hours & Engagement ~10 hours/week, ongoing - Flexible schedule, some overlap with Pacific Time preferred for check-ins - Hourly contract Skills Bookkeeping, QuickBooks Online, Bank Reconciliation, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting, Small Business Accounting To Apply Please include your relevant bookkeeping experience, familiarity with QuickBooks Online, your hourly rate, and your availability going forward.
