Bookkeeper
Worldwide
Fractional Financial Controller — bookkeeper, accountant, and internal auditor in one seat We are Halo AI, a seed-stage creator-economy company (Riyadh / Dubai / NYC). Brands fund campaigns on our platform; we pay creators; we also sell software. Money moves through client wallets, creator payouts, platform fees, and multiple currencies (USD, SAR, AED). We need one operator who will keep the books, close the month, and catch when the numbers are lying. Not a CFO who only makes slides. Not a bookkeeper who only codes invoices. The person who does both — and is slightly paranoid about both. If you have been the only finance person at a startup or small company, and you still reconcile every account yourself, this is your job. What you will own 1. The books (weekly) • Full-charge bookkeeping: AP, AR, expenses, payroll/contractors, credit cards, bank feeds • Reconcile every bank, wallet, payment processor, and credit card — no unreconciled accounts • Multi-currency books (USD / SAR / AED) with correct FX treatment • Chart of accounts that matches how we actually make money (campaigns vs software vs fees vs payouts), not a generic template • Vendor bills, contractor invoices, and spend requests with a simple approval trail 2. The close (monthly) • Month-end close within 10 business days (tighten to 7 once the stack is clean) • P&L, balance sheet, cash flow — management pack the founders can actually use • Revenue recognition for: prepaid brand wallets, completed campaigns, platform/software fees, and creator payouts • Accruals, prepaid, deferred revenue, and wallet liability that tie to operational records, not just the bank • Weekly cash view: runway, collections, payouts due, and “cash we cannot spend because it sits in client wallets” 3. The controls (ongoing — this is the auditor half) • Rebuild trust in historical numbers: find misclassifications, missing accruals, wallet vs P&L gaps, COGS vs opex errors • Document how each material revenue and cost line is supposed to work, then test that the books follow it • Flag issues with evidence (account, amount, what is wrong, how to fix) — not vague “we should review this” • Lightweight policies: who can spend, who can pay, what needs a receipt, what never hits COGS • Audit-ready files for tax, VAT, and investor diligence (we are not hiring you to be the statutory auditor) 4. Tax / compliance (with specialists where needed) • Keep us current on KSA VAT + ZATCA e-invoicing, UAE VAT, and any US contractor/payables requirements • You prepare the numbers and filings package; we will use a local tax agent for anything that requires a licensed filer • Payroll / contractor classification: employees vs freelancers vs creators 5. Stack • We are a startup. Parts of this still live in spreadsheets. You will recommend and implement the right stack (QBO, Xero, or equivalent + payroll + receipt capture). We will buy the tools. You will own the implementation and the migration.
