Brand Designer — Logo & Brand Identity for Political News Publication

POLICORNER is a growing political news publication covering Ontario politics. As we prepare for a major relaunch of our newsletter and digital products, we’re looking for a talented brand designer to refresh our visual identity. This is not a full rebrand. We’re happy with our existing colour palette and typography and intend to keep both. Instead, we’re looking for a designer who can evolve the POLICORNER identity into something sharper, more distinctive and more recognizable across platforms. Scope of work: - Refresh/redesign the POLICORNER logo and wordmark - Develop a distinctive brand graphic/visual device that can become a recognizable part of the POLICORNER identity - Create appropriate logo variations for newsletter, web, social, video and other digital applications - Provide final source/vector files and basic guidance for using the new elements The brand graphic is particularly important to us. We’re looking for something that can become uniquely associated with POLICORNER and work consistently across newsletter headers, social news graphics, video, event materials and our website. Our goal is an identity that feels modern, premium, authoritative and digitally native. We cover politics, but we do not want something that looks governmental, partisan, overly institutional or like a traditional newspaper. We particularly like the clarity and confidence of modern media brands such as POLITICO, Axios, while wanting POLICORNER to have a distinct identity of its own. Budget: $500 CAD, fixed price, but can be negotiated. Timeline: Ideally completed within 3-4 weeks. Experience designing identities for media, editorial, publishing or information brands is an asset. Please include relevant examples in your proposal and briefly explain how you would approach developing a distinctive visual device around an existing brand system.
