Buying Private Production Codebases from IT Services / Software Companies for Data Licensing
Worldwide
We are a data infra company working with major AI research labs. We are actively licensing private, production-grade codebases from software companies, IT services firms, and startups worldwide. What we're looking for: We want to license access to your company's private code repositories — applications, platforms, or systems you have built for clients or internal use that are no longer in active commercial deployment, or where you retain IP rights. Requirements (per repository): -Must be private — never published on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or any public platform -Must have been used in a production or commercial context (not tutorials, side projects, or hackathon code) -Minimum 5,000 lines of code (excluding blanks and comments); 50,000+ preferred -Minimum 2 unique contributors; 5+ preferred -Minimum 75 commits with meaningful commit messages; 200+ preferred -At least 6 months of active development history; 2+ years preferred -Test files must be present; 20%+ test coverage preferred -Must be runnable or buildable from source (Dockerfile, Makefile, or build script present) -Complete git history (no squashed or rewritten history) Languages we're prioritising: -High priority: C/C++, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust -Medium priority: C#, Ruby, PHP, Swift, Kotlin, Scala -Also interested: R, Julia, Lua, Haskell, Elixir, Fortran, COBOL Domains we're interested in: Fintech, healthcare, enterprise SaaS, e-commerce, logistics, DevOps tooling, data pipelines, mobile apps, embedded/IoT, gaming, ERP/CRM systems, government/defence applications. What we need from you: Please come with a rough estimate of how many non-public projects you currently hold, estimates lines of codes, PRs, commits etc., and confirmation that your team was the original author. Compensation: We pay per project based on size, quality, and language diversity. Rates are competitive and negotiated per engagement. We are looking for ongoing partnerships — not one-off transactions. If you have 5, 10, or 50+ qualifying projects, we want to hear from you. Ideal respondents: -IT services companies (large or small) with archived client projects where you retain IP -Software product companies with legacy applications no longer in production -Startup founders with codebases from previous ventures -Development agencies with reusable platform components This is a licensing arrangement, not an acquisition. You retain ownership of your code. We license it for a specific, clearly defined use case. All terms are documented in a standard licensing agreement. To apply, please share: number of projects you could potentially provide, primary languages and domains covered, and your company background.
