We are seeking a consultant to guide us through the CMMI Certification process. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing CMMI standards and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Responsibilities include conducting gap analyses, developing process documentation, and preparing for audits. The consultant should be able to provide strategic advice and support throughout the certification journey. # CMMI Consultant (Contract) ## Position Title CMMI Consultant (Capability Maturity Model Integration) ## Position Type Independent Contractor / Consultant (Part-Time, Project-Based) ## Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CMMI Consultant to lead and support our organization through the successful implementation and appraisal of a CMMI framework. The consultant will work closely with executive leadership and operational teams to assess current processes, identify gaps, develop compliant documentation, implement best practices, and prepare the organization for a successful CMMI appraisal. The ideal candidate has successfully led multiple organizations through CMMI certification efforts and possesses deep knowledge of CMMI V3.0, quality management systems, process improvement, and organizational change management. ## Key Responsibilities * Lead the organization's CMMI implementation strategy from assessment through appraisal. * Perform a comprehensive gap analysis against applicable CMMI practice areas. * Develop a detailed implementation roadmap with milestones, deliverables, and timelines. * Design, document, and improve organizational processes to align with CMMI requirements. * Create or enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, templates, work instructions, and process assets. * Establish and organize a Process Asset Library (PAL). * Assist in developing measurement and analysis metrics to monitor process performance. * Implement process governance, quality assurance, configuration management, risk management, and project management practices consistent with CMMI. * Coach executive leadership, managers, and staff on CMMI concepts, responsibilities, and process adoption. * Conduct internal audits, readiness reviews, and mock appraisals. * Identify non-conformances and provide corrective action recommendations. * Support evidence collection and documentation for the formal appraisal. * Coordinate activities with the Lead Appraiser and appraisal team. * Provide ongoing mentoring throughout implementation until certification is achieved. * Recommend continuous improvement initiatives beyond initial certification. ## Required Qualifications * Minimum of 10 years of experience implementing process improvement programs. * Demonstrated experience successfully leading organizations through CMMI certification efforts. * Strong working knowledge of CMMI Version 3.0. * Experience with process documentation, quality management systems, and organizational governance. * Experience performing gap assessments and process maturity evaluations. * Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. * Experience working with federal government contractors is highly preferred. * Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive organizational change. ## Preferred Qualifications * Certified CMMI Associate, Professional, or Instructor. * Experience supporting SCAMPI or Benchmark Appraisals (or current CMMI appraisal methods). * Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 20000, ISO 27001, or other quality frameworks. * Experience implementing Agile, DevSecOps, Lean, or ITIL alongside CMMI. * Experience supporting small and mid-sized government contractors. * PMP, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, or comparable process improvement certification. ## Deliverables The consultant will be expected to produce and deliver: * CMMI Gap Assessment Report * CMMI Implementation Roadmap * Process Architecture * Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) * Process Asset Library (PAL) * Organizational Policies and Procedures * Process Templates and Forms * Metrics and Measurement Framework * Internal Audit Reports * Readiness Assessment Reports * Corrective Action Plans * Appraisal Evidence Repository * Executive Status Reports * Staff Training Materials * Certification Readiness Package ## Desired Skills * CMMI V3.0 * Process Improvement * Quality Assurance * Organizational Change Management * Process Documentation * Risk Management * Configuration Management * Measurement & Analysis * Governance * Project Management * Microsoft SharePoint * Microsoft Office Suite * Visio or Lucidchart * Confluence/Jira (preferred) ## Success Criteria Success in this role will be measured by: * Completion of the CMMI implementation within the approved project schedule. * Organizational adoption of documented processes. * Successful completion of internal readiness assessments. * Positive results from the official CMMI appraisal. * Achievement of the targeted CMMI Maturity Level or Capability Level. * Establishment of sustainable continuous improvement practices. ## Preferred Experience Experience supporting organizations pursuing CMMI certification within the federal government contracting industry is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a history of implementing scalable business processes that improve operational maturity, proposal readiness, quality management, and program execution.
