About the Role Grocapitus Investments is seeking an experienced, business-minded Certified Public Accountant to evaluate potential accounting-firm acquisitions and help improve acquired firms after closing. Working directly with our CEO and operating team, you will assess financial performance, business quality, operational risks, valuation, and growth opportunities. This intermittent engagement is ideal for a senior CPA, former accounting-firm owner, or experienced advisor who understands accounting firms as businesses and has flexibility in their schedule. What You'll Do · Review financial statements, profitability, cash flow, recurring revenue, and operating performance. · Evaluate client concentration, staffing, leadership involvement, workflows, technology, and internal processes. · Identify financial, operational, compliance, staffing, client-retention, and transition risks. · Advise on valuation, purchase price, deal structure, and acquisition decisions. · Participate in management calls, document reviews, and occasional on-site assessments. · After closing, recommend and monitor improvements to profitability, staffing, controls, reporting, automation, and client service. Required Qualifications · Active CPA license and significant experience in accounting, audit, tax, finance, consulting, or business operations. · Strong understanding of accounting-firm economics, margins, staffing, client relationships, and partner responsibilities. · Proven ability to analyze financial and operational information and identify risks and opportunities. · Strong commercial judgment and the ability to look beyond technical accounting matters. · Clear written and verbal communication skills, including presenting actionable recommendations. · Ability to work independently, maintain flexible availability, and travel occasionally. Preferred Qualifications · Experience acquiring, selling, valuing, operating, or performing due diligence on accounting firms. · Previous ownership or senior leadership experience in a CPA or professional-services firm. · Big Four, large regional, or nationally recognized accounting or consulting experience. · Experience with post-acquisition integration, operational improvement, automation, or practical AI applications. Engagement Details This is not a traditional full-time position. Work is hourly and as needed, with activity increasing during due diligence, closing, and integration. Most work will be completed remotely, with occasional one- to two-day site visits.
