California ADU & Residential Permitting Specialist – Ongoing Projects We are a California-based design-build company looking for an experienced ADU and residential permitting specialist to help manage permitting for projects throughout California. We work on detached ADUs, attached ADUs, garage conversions, modular homes, and custom/site-built residential projects. We are looking for someone who understands California permitting and can take completed design/construction documents and manage the project through permit issuance. Responsibilities: Review permit sets before submission for completeness Confirm submittal requirements with individual cities and counties Prepare and submit building and planning applications Upload plans and supporting documents through municipal permitting portals Coordinate required consultants, including: Architects Structural engineers Civil engineers Surveyors Geotechnical engineers Title 24 / energy consultants CALGreen documentation Track permit applications and maintain clear status updates Communicate directly with planning and building departments Review correction comments and coordinate responses with the appropriate consultants Resubmit revised plans and documents Track permit fees and other agency requirements Help move projects from initial submission through permit issuance Ideal Candidate: Strong experience permitting ADUs and single-family residential projects in California Familiar with California ADU laws and residential building requirements Experience working with multiple California jurisdictions Comfortable communicating directly with city/county planners and building officials Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously Familiar with online permitting systems used by California municipalities Able to identify missing documents or potential permitting issues before submission Responsive and proactive with follow-ups Experience with Bay Area, Southern California, Los Angeles, San Diego, Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, or other California jurisdictions is a major plus. This is not simply a permit-expediting position. We are looking for someone who can own the permitting process, coordinate the various consultants, stay on top of corrections, and consistently push projects toward approval. We have multiple active projects and are looking for someone interested in an ongoing working relationship rather than a single project.
