California Civil Litigation Paralegal — Discovery & Motions, Collections
Worldwide
We need an experienced California civil litigation paralegal who is fluent in English and Spanish. This is not an entry-level or generalist admin role. We're a growing California law firm with a fast-expanding civil docket. We need someone who has already run a civil caseload — discovery, law and motion, and pretrial deadlines — and can do it without being managed task by task. The work: Commercial collections litigation for an institutional lender client — complaints, defaults and default judgments, case management conferences, and post-judgment enforcement (abstracts, writs, memoranda of costs, debtor examinations, levies, asset investigation) Written discovery on a rolling basis — form and special interrogatories, RFPs, RFAs, both propounding and responding Meet-and-confer correspondence that builds a record, plus separate statements and motions to compel Motion packages in California format — notice, memorandum, declarations, exhibits, proposed orders, proofs of service Deadline calendaring off service and hearing dates across an active docket E-filing in California Superior Courts (Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino) Some business and transactional support — purchase documents, entity filings, closing checklists, much of it with Spanish-speaking clients Required: 1+ years as a paralegal in California civil litigation, under attorney supervision California paralegal certification or the equivalent under Bus. & Prof. Code §6450 Real law and motion experience — you can build a motion package without a template hunt Working command of the Code of Civil Procedure and California Rules of Court; you can calculate a response deadline without asking Proven California Superior Court e-filing experience Reliable overlap with Pacific business hours Nice to have: Collections, judgment enforcement, or creditors' rights background Experience coordinating with out-of-state local counsel Comfort using AI tools in legal work — with the judgment to verify everything they produce What we offer: You set your own hours and tell us your capacity. You'll work directly with the attorney, not through three layers of supervision. The civil side of this practice is still being built, and the person in this role gets real input into how it runs. Ongoing engagement with room to grow as the docket expands. Please do not apply if you have not personally handled California civil discovery and motion practice, or if your Spanish is conversational rather than professional.
