California Licensed Architect (Residential Addition / ADU Feasibility)

I’m looking for a California-licensed architect to help evaluate the best approach for a residential expansion project in Bakersfield, CA. Project Overview I own a single-family home and am considering two possible options: 1. Extend the existing master bedroom toward the backyard, or 2. Build a detached 10’ x 12’ structure (shed/studio) that may qualify as permit-exempt with the City (while still requiring HOA approval). Before moving into design, I need an experienced architect to help determine which option makes the most sense based on my property, existing house plans, local requirements, practicality, and overall project goals. What I Need * Review my existing house plans, drawings, and site information. * Advise on the feasibility of both options. * Identify any code, zoning, setback, or structural considerations. * Explain what permits (if any) would be required and whether the detached structure is a realistic permit-exempt option. * Recommend the best path forward. * If we decide to proceed, there is potential for continued work preparing drawings and assisting through the HOA and/or city approval process.
