Camouflage Seamless Pattern Design
Worldwide
Hi, I’m looking for a graphic designer to help create a custom hunting camouflage pattern for my brand, Contours, and I wanted to see if this is a project you’d be interested in taking on. I’ve spent a lot of time refining the concept and have developed a detailed design brief, along with reference images, so I have a very clear vision of the final product. The Story Behind the Pattern The foundation of the Contours brand is Green Lane Reservoir in southeastern Pennsylvania. Rather than appearing as a literal lake or map graphic, the outline of the reservoir will serve as the primary drainage system within the terrain. It should blend naturally into surrounding ridges, hollows, and contour lines so that, from normal hunting distance, it simply looks like realistic terrain. Only upon closer inspection or to someone familiar with the area would it be recognizable as Green Lane Reservoir. That hidden detail is the signature of the brand and the one element I’d like to preserve in every future camouflage pattern. Design Direction I’d like the overall composition to closely follow the attached reference pattern while refining it into a cleaner, more premium design. The primary goals are: * Keep the Green Lane Reservoir drainage system as the dominant macro feature while blending it naturally into the surrounding terrain. * Simplify the contour lines with longer, smoother, more natural flow * Create a clear contour hierarchy: * Primary contours: muted warm gold, slightly thicker. * Secondary contours: muted blue-gray, thinner and less frequent. * Micro contours: extremely subtle and only in steeper terrain. * Reduce unnecessary micro-detail so the pattern feels intentional rather than busy. * Include broader ridge tops, benches, and flatter “quiet” terrain where contour spacing naturally opens up. * Make each section feel like a unique piece of real terrain instead of repeating similar contour rhythms. * Maintain a muted Pennsylvania/Ohio hardwood forest color palette for the late-season version. Early Season Colorway I’d also like an early-season version created using the exact same terrain layout. Only the color palette should change to reflect Pennsylvania and Ohio hardwood forests during September through early October, using natural moss greens, olive greens, sage, bark browns, muted tans, and charcoal shadow areas. Deliverables My sublimation manufacturer primarily works with vector artwork, so I’d like the final files to include: * Adobe Illustrator (.AI) * Editable vector (.EPS) * Print-ready vector PDF * A true seamless repeating master pattern Reference Images I’ve attached two reference images. The first shows the overall style and composition I’m aiming for, including both late-season and early-season colorways. The terrain layout should remain identical between the two versions, with only the colors changing. The second isolates the Green Lane Reservoir outline. Everything else has been intentionally blurred so it’s clear which terrain feature is important. This is the signature element I’d like the entire pattern to be built around. Overall, my goal is to create a camouflage pattern that feels like a real aerial topographic landscape. From a distance, hunters should see natural terrain, shadowed drainages, and strong macro breakup. Up close, the contour lines reveal the craftsmanship and topographic inspiration. I want the pattern to feel like authentic terrain first, with Green Lane Reservoir serving as a subtle hidden signature that tells the story behind the Contours brand. If this sounds like a project you’d be interested in, I’d love to discuss it further. Please let me know if you think it’s a good fit and feel free to share your thoughts on the project, your process, estimated pricing, and timeline. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you!
