Summary

2D Canva Animator Needed for Stick-Figure Educational Video Series Project Overview We are seeking an experienced 2D animator and video editor to create several dozen short educational videos for adults using correctional-facility tablets. The videos will be published in the free educational section of the Edovo learning platform. We have already created the curriculum, scripts, voiceovers, and an initial pilot video. The pilot uses stick-figure animation, our color palette and logos, and an ElevenLabs voiceover. It will serve as inspiration, but we want an experienced creator who can improve the visual storytelling, pacing, animation, sound design, and overall production quality. The animator will work independently, with scripts, voiceovers, brand materials, and consolidated feedback provided by one designated project lead. This project will begin with one paid pilot. If the pilot is successful, we expect to commission the remaining videos in fixed-price batches of approximately 10. What We Will Provide We will provide: Completed scripts. Final voiceover files generated through our ElevenLabs account and other audio content where appropriate. Our initial pilot video. Brand colors, fonts, logos, and available brand guidance. Information about the audience, curriculum, and learning objectives. Canva Pro access or permission to use Canva Pro elements. Consolidated feedback from one project lead. Edovo’s video-compression requirements and HandBrake preset, if needed. The freelancer will not be expected to write scripts or create the primary voiceovers. Scope of Work The selected freelancer will: Turn completed scripts and supplied voiceovers into engaging animated educational videos. Develop a consistent, reusable visual system based primarily on stick figures and simple graphic elements. Use neutral, inclusive characters that do not imply a particular race, gender, age, or other demographic identity unless a script specifically requires it. Translate each script into clear scenes and effective visual storytelling. Follow our supplied color palette, fonts, logos, and brand guidelines. Synchronize animation and on-screen elements with the supplied voiceover. Add appropriate music and sound effects when they improve engagement or comprehension. Maintain consistent branding and production quality across the series. Flag unclear or ambiguous portions of a script before production begins. Obtain approval before making substantive changes to the meaning or instructional content. Check every video for spelling, timing, audio synchronization, readability, branding, licensing, and technical quality. Although the curriculum, scripts, and voiceovers are already complete, we want the freelancer to provide creative guidance on visual storytelling, pacing, animation, sound design, and the development of an efficient, reusable production system. Audience and Creative Direction The primary audience is adults accessing free educational content on correctional-facility tablets. The videos should be: Clear, respectful, and adult-oriented. Engaging without feeling childish, flashy, or distracting. Easy to understand for viewers with different literacy and educational backgrounds. Designed for viewing on a landscape-oriented tablet. Visually simple enough to remain clear after compression. Appropriate for a correctional educational environment. Focused on comprehension, practical application, and audience retention. The visual approach should primarily use stick figures, icons, simple backgrounds, objects, and visual metaphors. The freelancer may use movement, transitions, animated text, music, and sound effects to maintain attention. Text should be large and readable, colors should have strong contrast, and essential information should not rely on color alone. These are educational videos, not advertisements or vertical social-media videos. Accuracy, accessibility, clarity, and respect for the audience are the highest priorities. Canva Editability Every video must be built and delivered as a fully editable Canva project. Our staff must be able to make reasonable future changes to: Text. Colors and logos. Voiceover files. Music and sound effects. Scene timing. Individual scenes. Stick figures and graphic elements. Basic transitions and animations. Major elements should not be flattened into a single uneditable video. We have Canva Pro, so Canva Pro assets may be used. However, the freelancer must disclose any external software, subscription, asset, plug-in, or AI tool that our staff would need to continue editing the project. As part of the paid pilot, we will test whether a non-specialist on our staff can change text, replace a voiceover, adjust timing, modify a brand color, edit a graphic, and export an updated video. If any part of the freelancer’s production process will not remain editable in Canva, this must be disclosed before the project begins. Video Deliverables and Technical Requirements For each completed video, the freelancer must provide: A high-resolution 16:9 master MP4, preferably 1920 × 1080. A compressed, Edovo-ready 16:9 MP4 with: MP4 file format. H.264 video codec. AAC audio codec. 720 × 405 resolution. A file size optimized for streaming over limited correctional-facility networks. A fully editable and organized Canva project. Editable copies of custom graphic elements created for the video. A list of third-party, stock, paid, subscription-based, or AI-generated assets used. The Edovo-ready version should be created using Edovo’s HandBrake preset or an equivalent compression process. Each compressed file must be checked for successful playback, audio synchronization, voiceover clarity, readable text, visual quality, correct dimensions, and the absence of audio or visual glitches. Edovo can generate closed captions for uploaded videos, so burned-in captions and separate caption files are not currently required. However, important visual information should not be placed where closed captions may cover it. Adequate caption-safe space should be maintained near the bottom of the frame. Course and Resource Thumbnails The freelancer will also create a branded square thumbnail for each course or learning resource included in the project. Each thumbnail must: Use a 1:1 square aspect ratio. Be designed at 1080 × 1080 pixels unless a different Edovo export size is required. Follow the approved visual style, colors, fonts, and logo usage. Clearly relate to the corresponding course or resource. Use minimal, readable text. Be appropriate for an adult audience. Remain visually consistent across the complete series. Be delivered as both a publication-ready image and a fully editable Canva project. The paid pilot should include one completed thumbnail and a reusable Canva thumbnail template. Music, Assets, and Ownership The freelancer may add music and sound effects when they strengthen the content without distracting from the narration. All music, sound effects, fonts, graphics, stock elements, and other third-party materials must be properly licensed for our ongoing nonprofit and educational use, including distribution through Edovo. The freelancer must disclose third-party assets and any relevant licensing restrictions. Assets that cannot be transferred or continuously used by our organization may not be included without advance approval. Upon full payment, our organization must receive the agreed final videos, Canva templates, custom graphics, thumbnails, and other original project materials. The freelancer must obtain written permission before using the work in a portfolio, case study, website, or promotional post. Project materials must be kept confidential and may not be uploaded into unapproved generative AI or third-party systems. Production Process Our anticipated process is: Review the pilot, brand materials, sample scripts, audience, and technical requirements. Recommend a visual style and reusable production system. Create sample scenes or a short storyboard for approval. Produce one paid pilot video and one thumbnail. Deliver the editable Canva projects and final exported files. Allow our staff to test the Canva projects’ editability. Incorporate pilot feedback and finalize the reusable templates. Produce the remaining videos in batches of approximately 10. Complete quality assurance and deliver all source materials for each batch. We anticipate using fixed-price milestones for the pilot and each subsequent batch. Revisions Please base your proposal on: One review of the storyboard, visual plan, or sample scenes. Up to two consolidated revision rounds per completed video. Consolidated feedback from one designated project lead. Corrections of freelancer errors—such as spelling mistakes, missing content, incorrect branding, audio-sync problems, export problems, or deviations from the approved script—will not count as revision rounds. Scripts and voiceovers will be considered final when provided for production. Substantial changes that we request after production begins may be treated as additional work. The freelancer must provide a cost and schedule estimate and receive approval before completing additional work. File Organization and Handoff Files must follow a consistent folder structure, naming convention, and version-control system. At the conclusion of the pilot or project, the freelancer must provide a short recorded walkthrough showing our staff how to: Edit the Canva templates. Replace voiceovers. Adjust scene timing. Change text, colors, and logos. Replace music or sound effects. Duplicate templates for future content. Export high-resolution masters. Create compressed Edovo-ready files. Pricing Requested Please provide separate fixed prices for: Initial visual-style development and creation of the reusable Canva video template. Creation of the reusable Canva thumbnail template. Production of the paid pilot video and pilot thumbnail. Each completed video up to 60 seconds. Each completed video between 61 and 120 seconds. Each completed video between 121 and 180 seconds. Each completed course or resource thumbnail using the approved template. Significant script or voiceover changes requested after production begins. Revision rounds beyond those included. Future updates to completed videos. Future batches using the established templates. Your pricing should include animation, sound design, the agreed revision rounds, quality assurance, high-resolution and Edovo-ready exports, editable Canva projects, and required source materials. Estimated Schedule Estimated number of videos: [INSERT NUMBER OR RANGE] Typical finished length: [INSERT RANGE] Typical script length: [INSERT WORD-COUNT RANGE] Batch size: Approximately 10 videos Paid pilot turnaround: Approximately 7–10 business days Anticipated batch schedule: Approximately 10 videos every 3–4 weeks Desired start date: [INSERT DATE] Overall target completion date: [INSERT DATE, IF APPLICABLE] Applicants should propose a realistic schedule based on the expected video lengths and their current availability. Ideal Qualifications Strong experience with 2D animation and motion graphics. Demonstrated Canva video-production skills. Experience creating stick-figure or simple-character animation. Strong visual storytelling and script-interpretation skills. Experience producing educational or adult-learning content. Understanding of accessibility and tablet readability. Familiarity with HandBrake or comparable compression tools. Strong file-organization and quality-control practices. Ability to work independently and meet batch deadlines. Clear, proactive communication. Experience with nonprofit, workforce-development, reentry, correctional education, or similar content is helpful but not required. How to Apply Please begin your proposal with the phrase “Tablet Learning.” In your proposal, please answer the following: Provide two or three examples of relevant animated videos you personally created. What parts of each project did you produce? How would you ensure that a non-specialist can realistically edit your work in Canva? Describe how you would create and test an Edovo-ready 720 × 405 MP4. Provide your pricing using the categories listed above. How long would you need to complete the paid pilot? How long would you need to complete a typical batch of 10 videos? How do you license music, sound effects, fonts, graphics, and other third-party assets? Are you available for future edits and additional video batches? The selected freelancer must be willing to complete a paid pilot before being considered for the complete series.
