Cartographic Artist for Birding Calendars

I’m developing locally specific birding calendars that aim to inspire appreciation for the natural spaces around a city, not provide turn-by-turn navigation. I’m looking for a cartographic artist to help shape the visual language of the maps at the center of the product. The maps should be geographically recognizable to local residents and simplify geography aggressively while retaining enough structure for orientation. My inspiration comes from classic National Park/WPA artwork and illustrated visitor maps, with bold forms, restrained palettes, and a strong sense of place. The goal is to create maps that feel inviting, memorable, and worth exploring. I imagine: Natural areas, water, wetlands, greenways, etc. receiving the greatest visual emphasis. Major highways and arterial roads providing recognizable geographic structure, but with low visual weight. Most minor streets, buildings, businesses, and other conventional web-map detail disappearing entirely. Geographic relationships remaining recognizable, while allowing some cartographic exaggeration where useful - for example, making a narrow greenway, small park, or water feature more visually significant than its literal scale would permit. (Later) Illustrated birds and editorial callouts eventually being positioned around their associated places, potentially using leader lines and available negative space rather than sitting directly on geographic coordinates.
