Chief Security Officer/ AI Security Governance

Job type: Contract / Fractional (part-time, ongoing) Location: Remote (U.S) We're a finance and accounting firm that goes beyond advisory: we build financial-insights platforms directly inside our clients' systems. That means we connect to sensitive financial data and construct infrastructure within client environments. We need an experienced security leader. Someone who can define our security standards, validate what we build, and represent our security posture to clients. What you'll do -Own security governance for client deployments: define the standards and parameters required when we build infrastructure inside a client's environment and connect it to sensitive financial data -Assess each client's security requirements and confirm that what we're building meets them -Review code and architecture — you can personally verify that what we build is secure -Provide the framework and the technical guidance for how systems get built securely on our side, including standards for AI-assisted development -Advise on AWS-based deployments: many of our mid-market clients host their servers and infrastructure on Amazon Web Services, and you'll guide how we deploy into those environments -Serve as the client-facing security authority What we're looking for -Senior security leadership experience (CSO, CISO, VP Security, or principal security architect level) -The rare combination this role demands: security expertise + software development fluency + an understanding of finance and controls -Hands-on ability to review code and architecture for security flaws -Strong AWS knowledge, especially how mid-market / medium-sized companies manage their servers and infrastructure -Experience defining security standards for software built and deployed inside third-party (client) environments -Familiarity with SOC 2 -Excellent client-facing communication Nice to have -Experience securing AI-assisted or rapidly developed codebases and setting guardrails for AI-driven development workflows -Background in fintech, financial services, or accounting technology -Prior fractional or consulting security leadership for multiple clients How to apply In your proposal, please include: (1) a specific example of defining security standards for software deployed into a client's or third party's environment (2) your AWS experience with mid-market infrastructure (3) whether you have SOC 2 readiness experience.
