Children’s Book Illustrator Needed for Books 2 & 3 + Book 1 Cover Update I am looking for an experienced children’s book illustrator to continue an existing 3-part children’s picture book series. Book 1 is already published, so the main character and visual identity of the series are already established. I need full illustrations for Books 2 and 3, as well as a minor update to the existing Book 1 cover. Total fixed budget: $850 Book 2: $400 Book 3: $400 Book 1 cover update: $50 MAIN CHARACTER — CONSISTENCY IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT The main character must look as close as possible to the exact same child from Book 1. I will provide reference images of the established character. I am not looking for the character to be redesigned or reinterpreted into a different illustration style. Her facial features, skin tone, hair texture, proportions, age, clothing details, accessories, and overall appearance must remain consistent. The illustrator must be able to reproduce the same character accurately across different poses, expressions, hairstyles, outfits, environments, and scenes. Before committing to the complete project, I may request a test illustration using my existing character. NO AI-GENERATED ARTWORK No generative AI may be used at any stage of this project. This includes characters, backgrounds, objects, poses, image extensions, corrections, or other elements incorporated into the artwork. I am looking for original digital illustration created by the illustrator. BOOKS 2 & 3 Each book contains approximately 25 illustrated pages: Front cover Title page Approximately 22 story pages Back cover The manuscripts and detailed illustration prompts are already prepared. Illustrations should be bright, expressive, child-friendly, polished, and visually consistent with the established series. ORIGINAL & EDITABLE FILES REQUIRED I need both the finished publication files and the original editable source files. Final deliverables must include: Original, fully layered PSD files for all illustrations Properly separated and editable layers High-resolution 300 DPI PNG files High-resolution JPEG files Illustrations with text Illustrations without text Editable cover files Full wraparound covers Print-ready interior files A flattened image placed inside a PSD file is not considered a layered PSD. Where reasonably applicable, I need to be able to independently edit or move characters, backgrounds, objects, text, clothing/accessories, and other major elements. AMAZON KDP + INGRAMSPARK Both books must be delivered completely ready for publication on Amazon KDP and IngramSpark. Final publication files must meet the current technical specifications of each platform, including: Correct trim size Bleed Margins and safe areas Resolution Interior formatting Cover dimensions Spine dimensions, when applicable Full wraparound cover formatting I do not want generic print PDFs that I will then have to reformat myself. I want the appropriate KDP-ready files, IngramSpark-ready files, AND the original editable files. BOOK 1 COVER UPDATE — $50 Book 1 is already published. I do not need the entire book reillustrated. I would like the existing cover improved by making relatively minor adjustments, such as bringing the main character closer/making her more prominent, improving the composition, and potentially adding or extending background elements. I will provide the existing materials. The revised cover must also be properly prepared for Amazon KDP and IngramSpark. COMMUNICATION & APPROVAL PROCESS Communication is extremely important to me. I expect regular progress updates throughout the project. I do not want an entire book completed before seeing the artwork. I prefer the work to progress through stages such as: Sketch/Composition → Approval → Color/Rendering → Approval → Final Illustration Please ask questions whenever something is unclear rather than guessing or making significant unapproved changes. I provide detailed illustration prompts and references and expect the artwork to follow them closely. Reasonable revisions should be included when necessary to correct character inconsistencies or bring artwork in line with an approved reference or prompt. RIGHTS, OWNERSHIP & CONFIDENTIALITY Upon final payment for the applicable commissioned work, the agreed commercial rights to the final artwork will transfer to me as specified in our contract. My existing character, manuscript, reference artwork, illustration prompts, and other materials remain my intellectual property. My project materials and commissioned artwork may not be reused, resold, redistributed, posted publicly, shared on social media, displayed in a portfolio, or otherwise used without my written permission. The established character may not be reproduced, adapted, or repurposed for another client or project. TIMELINE Please provide a realistic estimated timeline for completing each book. Quality, communication, and accurate character consistency are extremely important to me. Once we mutually agree upon a schedule, I expect deadlines to be respected and potential delays to be communicated in advance.
