Children's Book Illustrator for 3D Animated Style (DC Landmarks / Realistic Scale)

Seeking an experienced children's book illustrator to create ~25 original full-color illustrations in a premium 3D animated style inspired by modern family animation. The project is for a picture book for children ages 3–8, featuring expressive characters, vibrant environments, and engaging scenes that highlight adventure, family, and positive life lessons. The story follows the characters through historical landmarks in Washington. DC. As such preference for an illustrator who is physically familiar with the National Mall will be considered. We will provide the completed manuscript, character descriptions, and illustration briefs. Applicants should have a strong portfolio in children's book illustration, strong storytelling through art, and experience delivering print-ready files with full commercial rights. This project may lead to future books in the series. Extra Details Creative & Style RequirementsVisual Style: 3D digital illustration style (similar to modern 3D animated film aesthetics). The artwork should feel dimensional, rich, and textured. Architectural Accuracy: Detailed scenes featuring major Washington, D.C., architectural landmarks. Close, recognizable resemblance to these real-world structures is critically important for the book's setting.Scale & Lighting: Strong composition skills are a must. We prefer an artist who understands realistic scale relationships between characters and massive landmarks, as well as dramatic, intentional lighting to set the mood of each scene. Age Appeal: The background environments should offer depth and detail to intrigue 6–8 year olds, while the primary character actions and lighting remain clean and focal enough to capture the attention of 3–5 year olds. Rights: This is a Work-For-Hire agreement / full buyout. The author retains 100% of worldwide print, digital, and promotional rights.
