Children's Educational Workbook Illustrator & Designer — A–Z Wellness Series

Children’s Educational Workbook Illustrator & Designer I am seeking an experienced children’s illustrator/designer for SOURCE: Growing Healthy Kids from Nature’s Best, an 8.5 × 11 full-color educational workbook designed to teach children about healthy foods through the alphabet. The creative development is already complete. I have: A completed A–Z manuscript with 26 individual page specifications Seven established recurring fruit and vegetable characters (“Garden Friends”) A detailed Character Bible showing their appearance, personalities, clothing, expressions, and relationships Concept illustrations and page mockups establishing the desired visual direction Activities, letter tracing, simple recipes, garden/nature facts, and educational content already written I am NOT looking for someone to reinvent the characters or concept. I am looking for an illustrator who can professionally recreate and refine the established visual style, maintain strong character consistency throughout the book, and turn the existing concepts into polished, original, publication-ready artwork. The ideal freelancer has experience with children’s book illustration AND educational/workbook design, including activity pages, tracing exercises, page composition, and print layout. Project scope includes: 26 A–Z illustrated workbook pages Recurring character illustrations Front matter and supporting illustrations/layout Four-page illustrated ending featuring the seven Garden Friends Final 8.5 × 11 workbook page layout Print-ready high-resolution files Editable/source files Important: This is intended to become an ongoing children’s educational series. The selected illustrator must be comfortable following an established Character Bible and maintaining the same characters and visual style across future books. Before awarding the complete project, I would like to commission one paid sample page featuring Abby Apple (A is for Apple). I will provide the selected finalists with Abby’s Character Bible reference, completed manuscript sheet, and visual reference. Please include in your proposal: Examples of children’s books, educational workbooks, activity books, or similar projects you have illustrated. Your experience maintaining recurring character consistency across multiple illustrations. Whether you can provide both illustration and final workbook/page layout. Whether your artwork is created originally by you and whether generative AI is used at any stage of your process. What editable/source files you provide. Number of revision rounds included. Your estimated timeline for the complete project. Your proposed fixed price for the complete scope. Confirmation that you are willing to complete one paid Abby Apple sample page before the full project is awarded. The final agreement must provide the commercial usage/ownership rights necessary for my company to publish, reproduce, market, merchandise, and continue using the commissioned final artwork and characters throughout the SOURCE series and related materials. I am looking for more than someone who can create cute illustrations.
