I am seeking a licensed California civil litigation attorney to partner with on a contingency basis for an active lawsuit in Sacramento Superior Court against Alta California Regional Center, Inc., a quasi-governmental entity that administers developmental disability services under contract with the California Department of Developmental Services. The Case My company and I were subjected to a nearly three year campaign of retaliation, defamation, funding obstruction, and interference with business relationships after I advocated for a disabled client's statutory rights. The First Amended Complaint alleges five causes of action: Intentional Interference with Prospective Economic Advantage, Intentional Interference with Contractual Relations, Unfair Competition under Business and Professions Code section 17200, Whistleblower Retaliation under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Negligent Supervision, Retention and Hiring. The Evidence The case is exceptionally well documented including hearing recordings, clinical reviews containing false statements, a pretextual internal investigation report obtained through compelled disclosure, independent expert confirmation of my competence, and a family's independent DDS complaint corroborating staff harassment. The Damages Direct damages include $27,162.50 in unpaid invoices. Lost revenue damages from three clients lost as a direct result of the defendant's conduct are estimated at approximately $686,400 in gross revenue before business expenses. Additional damages include interest, punitive damages, and potential attorneys fees under the Rehabilitation Act's fee shifting provision. Current Status The complaint has been filed and served. Defendant has recently retained new counsel and indicated its intention to file a demurrer and motion to strike. Given the extent of documented misconduct I believe there is a high likelihood of early settlement. Compensation This is a contingency arrangement. I am willing to offer a higher than average contingency percentage because I would genuinely rather see a larger share go to an attorney defending the rights of disabled people and small providers than to a corrupt bureaucracy that has been actively trampling over them. A detailed case summary and the First Amended Complaint are available upon request.
