Comic Artist for Issue #1 of Series - Potential Rehire
Only freelancers located in the U.S. may apply.U.S. located freelancers only
WE NEED A REAL, TALENTED ARTIST TO MAKE ALL THE ART FOR OUR COMIC SERIES AND POTENTIALLY OUR ENTIRE IP/FRANCHISE! We are creating a comic series, and we need an artist for Issue #1. A high-skilled artist (NO AI ART ALLOWED) who can do backgrounds and characters is preferred, but if you can only do one or the other, we can discuss that (and the pay with that) in a meeting later on. If we work well, things go smoothly, and the art is great, there is potential for rehire for the following issues. The goal for this series is to release roughly 8 issues, then re-release them as a graphic novel. Then, repeat that for another 8 issues, several times over. End goal: This series will be an animated television show. Each of the 8 issue graphic novels will be the equivalent to 1 season of the show. THIS WILL BE TIME-CONSUMING AND POTENTIALLY LONG-STANDING WORK. What We Will Need From You: - Sketch and Ink pages consistently (1-2 pages per week) - Ability to match art styles - Regular communication - A willingness to redo, if need be - High-quality art - NO AI ART (We have zero tolerance for using AI-generated art in our projects.) About The Series: Art Style: We need a healthy mix between cartoon and typical comic styles. We will send you the style. Inspiration for cartoon style includes: Teen Titans (2003 Animated Series), Avatar: The Last Airbender, Spectacular Spider-Man (2008 Animated Series), Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Genres: Hero/Vigilante, Sci-fi, Grounded Fantasy This series is about a teenage boy who lives with his mom and his grandpa in a town wedged between a big city focused on making life luxurious and painless through medication and technology, and a Kingdom, built up from the slums, focused on punishment and brutality. The boy's grandfather is disliked by both sides for multiple reasons, so they try to stay out of the way when they can. The main theme of the series is: "Turn your pain into your power." The boy creates a device that translates pain into enhanced physical capabilities. The story follows this boy's journey from getting consistently mugged by criminals and over-punished by the kingdom's law enforcement, to becoming a vigilante/hero who saves the people from this endless purgatory of pain, using his own pain. As of right now, we only need Issue #1 art, and we will move forward from there. Potential Future: If we really like your work, there is potential for us to want you back for the entire series, and maybe want you to join the company altogether. We can discuss consistent pay when that time comes. You will get credited as the main artist on the books themselves when we release them. We are a fun, humorous team, and we'd love for you to help us make this series possible!
