E-Commerce Lifecycle & Retention Marketing Specialist
Worldwide
We are an established automotive e-commerce company looking for an experienced Lifecycle & Retention Marketing Specialist to take ownership of marketing to our existing customers, prospects, and professional repair-shop accounts. Your mission is simple: Turn our existing customer and prospect database into more profitable revenue. We already have traffic, customers, abandoned carts, previous purchasers, professional repair shops, leads, and significant customer data. We need someone who wakes up thinking: Who should we market to today? What should we send them? Why should they care? How do we get them to purchase or come back? And did the campaign actually make money? This is NOT primarily a social-media position. This is NOT a graphic-design position. This is NOT someone who simply sends a weekly newsletter. We want someone who understands e-commerce lifecycle marketing, segmentation, automation, remarketing, experimentation, and customer retention. What You'll Own You will own lifecycle and retention marketing across both our consumer/DIY customers and our professional repair-shop customers. This may include: Klaviyo Email marketing SMS marketing Customer segmentation Automated flows Abandoned-cart recovery Browse abandonment Post-purchase marketing Win-back campaigns Customer reactivation Repeat-purchase campaigns Cross-sell and upsell campaigns Product/category campaigns Seasonal automotive campaigns Promotional campaigns Customer onboarding Pro customer onboarding Pro account activation Pro reorder campaigns Dormant Pro account reactivation Lead nurturing Remarketing strategy Campaign experimentation A/B testing Personalized marketing Campaign reporting and analysis Your job is not simply to execute campaigns we give you. We expect YOU to identify the opportunities and develop the marketing calendar and strategy. Consumer / DIY Marketing Our consumer customers purchase automotive parts for repairs and maintenance. You should constantly look for opportunities such as: Customer purchased X → what might they reasonably need next? Customer viewed products but didn't purchase → what stopped them? Customer abandoned checkout → how should we recover them? Customer hasn't purchased in 6 months → should we reactivate them? Customer owns a particular vehicle → what relevant maintenance/product campaigns could we create? Customer purchased one component of a repair → are there complementary products we should recommend? We want intelligent segmentation rather than blasting the entire database with the same promotion. Professional / Repair Shop Marketing We also serve professional automotive repair businesses. This audience should be treated differently from DIY consumers. You may develop campaigns around: New Pro account onboarding Getting approved Pros to place their first order Reordering Dormant account reactivation New brands/products Special pricing Repair-shop-specific promotions Quote/RFQ follow-up Customer relationship nurturing Account engagement Product availability Shop purchasing behavior Pro portal adoption The objective is to make AutoBuffy something professional customers continue coming back to use. Klaviyo Strong Klaviyo experience is highly preferred. We expect you to understand more than simply creating an email. You should understand: Segments Profiles Events Flows Campaigns Triggers Conditional logic Dynamic content Personalization Deliverability A/B testing Revenue attribution List health Suppression Customer lifecycle stages You should be able to look at our existing setup and identify what we're missing. AI-First Marketing We strongly encourage the use of AI. You should be comfortable using tools such as: Claude ChatGPT Other AI marketing tools Automation tools We want AI to make you faster and more productive, not replace your judgment. For example, AI might help you: Analyze customer segments Generate campaign concepts Research automotive repair/maintenance topics Produce multiple copy variations Personalize campaigns Analyze campaign results Identify patterns in customer behavior Develop A/B testing ideas Build campaign calendars Analyze customer feedback We expect a modern marketer to use AI to accomplish significantly more than was previously possible. How We Think About Marketing We do NOT want: "It's Tuesday, so let's send an email." We want: Customer Data → Opportunity → Segment → Hypothesis → Campaign → Test → Revenue → Learning For example: Not: "Let's send a brake-parts email." Instead: "We identified 18,000 customers who previously purchased front brake components but haven't purchased related rear components. I want to test this targeted campaign against a control group and measure incremental revenue and contribution." That is the level of thinking we're looking for. What Success Looks Like You will NOT be judged primarily on: Number of emails sent Open rates Number of campaigns created Number of SMS messages sent How pretty an email looks Those can be useful diagnostic metrics. But ultimately, we care about: Revenue from owned channels Incremental campaign revenue Contribution/profit from campaigns Repeat purchase rate Customer reactivation Abandoned-cart recovery Flow revenue Revenue per recipient Pro activation rate Pro reorder rate Customer retention Lifetime value We want marketing that makes money. Required Experience You should have strong hands-on experience with: E-commerce Email Marketing Lifecycle Marketing Retention Marketing Klaviyo Customer Segmentation Marketing Automation Campaign Strategy A/B Testing Customer Retention E-commerce Analytics Email/SMS Campaigns Remarketing Strongly Preferred Experience with: Large e-commerce catalogs Automotive Automotive aftermarket Technical products B2B e-commerce B2C e-commerce Repair shops Customer loyalty Cross-selling Upselling Customer reactivation Google Analytics / GA4 PostHog or behavioral analytics CRM systems AI-assisted marketing workflows What We DON'T Want Please do not apply if your primary experience is: Social media posting Influencer marketing Graphic design General virtual assistance Writing newsletters without strategy Generic "digital marketing" Running campaigns without measuring revenue We are looking for a lifecycle/retention marketer who understands e-commerce economics. Individual Applicants Only We are looking for an individual who can become deeply familiar with our customers and business. No agencies. We want the person applying to be the person actually doing the work. Hours We expect this role to begin around 10-20 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow into a larger long-term role based on performance and workload. We care about results and ownership, not simply filling hours.
