Summary

I’m seeking an experienced commercial horror/thriller feature professional to provide intensive development feedback on an original contained supernatural horror screenplay. This is not primarily a proofreading, formatting, rewriting, or generic screenplay-coverage assignment. I’m looking for someone with meaningful professional experience personally developing, writing, producing, selling, optioning, or packaging commercial horror/thriller feature films. Project: Feature-length contained/modest-budget supernatural horror intended to be commercially viable and ultimately taken out to producers. I’m looking for someone who can distinguish intentional creative choices from genuine story problems while being VERY blunt about anything preventing the screenplay from working as a commercial horror feature. I AM SEEKING A FIRST DEVELOPMENT PASS: - full screenplay read - detailed written development notes - structure and story engine - escalation and pacing - suspense, scares, reveals, and set pieces - supernatural mythology and internal rules - character motivation and emotional logic - setup/payoff - clarity of cause and effect - third act and ending - originality versus familiarity - commercial positioning - production feasibility and unnecessary budget inflation - identification of anything likely to weaken the screenplay with producers, financiers, distributors, or buyers I want someone comfortable identifying: - what is not working - why it is not working - how serious the problem is - what needs to change structurally or dramatically Strong candidates may include: - horror/thriller feature producers - development executives with substantial genre experience - professional horror screenwriters - writer-producers - filmmakers who have developed or packaged commercial genre features - consultants with substantial, verifiable feature-development credits Strong preference for experience with: - contained or modest-budget horror - supernatural or psychological horror - high-concept commercial genre films - working directly with writers through multiple drafts - evaluating scripts for both creative effectiveness and production/commercial viability - Feature-film experience matters. - General screenplay coverage, short-film experience, horror fandom, or screenwriting education alone is not sufficient for this assignment. And lastly, I work EXTREMELY quick so I require 24-48 hour turnaround after screenplay delivery availability for one rapid follow-up read of the revised draft and ensure you provide blunt, specific feedback rather than overly diplomatic coverage. The screenplay will be shared under Upwork’s confidentiality terms. Additional NDA arrangements will be discussed if necessary.
