Summary

About the work We maintain a structured internal reference library of US commercial property & casualty policies. We're looking for one or more detail-obsessed reviewers to read complete policy documents and record a defined set of data points about each document into a structured template. This is not summarization, writing, or advisory work. It is precise, rule-driven extraction. For every field you either capture the value the document actually states, or you mark it explicitly as not stated. The single most important trait for this role is that you never guess and never infer. What you'll do • Read commercial P&C policies end to end: declarations, schedule of forms & endorsements, coverage parts, and schedules of locations/vehicles/equipment • Capture critical field values such as named insured, issuing carrier, policy number, effective/expiration dates, total premium, policy form type, deductibles/retentions • Capture list and table data: coverage type and its limit and/or sublimit, every form and endorsement (number + edition date + title), scheduled locations with building/BPP/BI values, scheduled vehicles • Record a page citation for every value captured • Flag conflicts and ambiguity rather than resolving them silently - e.g. an endorsement that amends a limit shown on the dec page, contradictory schedules, illegible scanned pages • Work from a written annotation guide, and tell us where the guide is silent or wrong • Perform second-pass review of another reviewer's output and reconcile disagreements with written reasoning What you'll see: CGL, commercial property, BOP, commercial auto, workers' comp, umbrella/excess, inland marine, crime, professional/E&O, cyber, EPLI. Mostly ISO-based with carrier proprietary and manuscript forms mixed in. Documents range from 15 to 400+ pages. Must-haves • 3+ years hands-on experience with US commercial lines P&C policy documents – as an underwriter’s assistance, policy checker, policy issuance/servicing analyst, account manager, broker/CSR, or coverage analyst • Fluent reading dec pages, forms schedules and endorsements – and confident about when an endorsement supersedes what the dec page says • Comfortable with ISO form numbering and edition dates (CG 00 01, CP 00 10, CA 00 01, and the endorsement families) • Exceptional accuracy, and comfort with being measured on it. Our bar is 95%+ on both completeness (did you capture everything that was there) and correctness (is everything you captured right), scored against an independently reviewed answer key • Solid with structured data entry (Excel or Google Sheets, or a web interface) • Clear written English, responsive communication, and willing to explain your reasoning • Able to sign an NDA and handle confidential documents appropriately Nice to have • Policy checking or certificate issuance experience at an outsourced insurance operations provider • Surplus lines and manuscript form exposure • Multi-state, multi-location program experience How we'll work together 1. Paid test task (fixed price).1 policy plus our annotation guide, roughly 2–3 hours. Paid in full regardless of whether we move forward. 2. Calibration batch (hourly, capped). If your accuracy meets the bar, a short paid batch so we can measure your pace and refine the guide together. 3. Ongoing work. Steady weekly volume with sampled QA and a quality bonus. Long-term for the right person. 15–30 hours/week, fully async, flexible schedule. To apply Please skip the generic cover letter. Instead tell me: 1. Which lines of business you know best, and where you learned them 2. A time a dec page and an endorsement contradicted each other, and what you did 3. Whether you'd rather be paid hourly or per document, and why
