Commercial P&C Underwriting SME Review of AI-Powered Underwriting Solution (US Insurance)

Project Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriter to perform an independent assessment of an AI-enabled underwriting solution designed for the U.S. commercial insurance market. The solution has been developed to support key underwriting workflows including submission intake and risk assessment. We require a practicing underwriting professional who can validate the business logic, underwriting relevance, workflow alignment and practical usability of the solution from a carrier perspective. Our internal underwriting solution focuses on commercial P&C workflows relevant to US P&C insurers for Commercial Property, BOP, Cyber and Worker’s Comp. Additional LOBs welcome Objectives The selected SME will: Week 1: Solution Assessment • Review existing solution prototype instance. • Evaluate alignment with commercial underwriting practices. • Assess support for: o Submission Intake o Risk Assessment • Identify gaps in underwriting logic and business rules. • Validate alignment with commercial P&C underwriting processes. • Highlight any state level nuances needed and any exception paths that should be considered for specific LOBs • Highlight the most commonly occurring scenarios in terms of happy path, NIGO, referrals, etc. Week 2: Recommendations & Validation • Provide detailed feedback and improvement recommendations. • Review AI-generated underwriting summaries and recommendations. • Assess explainability and underwriter/ underwriter analysts’ usability. Deliverables 1. Current State Assessment Report 2. Gap Analysis Against Commercial P&C Underwriting Best Practices for identified LOBs 3. Prioritized Recommendations 4. Business Rule Enhancement Suggestions 5. Final Review Workshop (2-3 hours total) Required Expertise Mandatory • 10+ years of hands-on Commercial P&C Underwriting experience • Currently practicing or recently retired (within last 2 years) • Experience with U.S. Commercial Insurance • Expertise in the following Commercial Lines: o Property o General Liability o Workers Compensation (preferred) o Cyber o Specialty Commercial Lines (nice to have) Preferred • Former or current: o Senior Underwriter o Underwriting Manager o Assistant Vice President Underwriting o Chief Underwriting Office team member • Experience with carriers such as: o Chubb o Travelers o Liberty Mutual o Hartford o CNA o Zurich o AIG o AXA XL • Prior experience reviewing underwriting technology or AI solutions. • Familiarity with Guidewire and modern underwriting workbenches is a plus.
