US Compliance Consultant – UL/NRTL Certification & Import Guidance

We're importing warm air heater units manufactured in Italy into the US and need expert guidance on two fronts: Export/Import Logistics – What's required to legally bring a unit out of Italy and land it in the US (customs, documentation, compliance triggers on entry)? Certification Validation – Our Italian manufacturer has proposed either (a) a UL 795/ANSI Z21.47/CSA 2.3 "Construction Analysis with Detailed Report" (no formal UL mark), or (b) a TÜVus North America Limited Production Certification (LPC) under UL 2011/UL 508A. We need someone to tell us definitively whether either option satisfies US market requirements — AHJ acceptance, NRTL "Listed" status, installer/insurer expectations — or whether we'll still need a Field Evaluation or full UL certification once units are stateside. Requirements: Based in the US, with hands-on experience navigating NRTL certification (UL, TÜV, ETL, etc.) and Field Evaluations Familiarity with importing industrial/HVAC equipment from the EU Comfortable reviewing manufacturer-provided technical/compliance documents and giving a clear go/no-go opinion Bonus: prior experience with gas-fired or warm air heating equipment (UL 795 category)
