Composer / Music Producer Needed for Original Theme Song & Music Package for 2D Animated Series

Composer / Music Producer Needed for Original Theme Song & Music Package for 2D Animated Series About the Project I’m developing an original 2D animated series called Puff Port, centered on a Black middle-school girl and her family living in Bowie, Maryland. The series is funny, family-driven, culturally specific, and intended to appeal to preteens, teens, and Black parents/families. Tonally, it sits closer to a family sitcom than a traditional educational children’s show. The larger Puff Port brand began with a bicycle helmet designed to accommodate hairstyles such as puffs, braids, and ponytails, but the animated series is being developed as a real entertainment property with its own characters, world, humor, and long-term identity. I’m now looking for a composer / music producer who can help create the sonic identity of the series. What I Need I am not looking for generic stock music or a traditional advertising jingle. I want an original theme and music package that makes Puff Port feel like a real animated show. The music should be: * catchy and memorable * contemporary * warm and family-oriented * funny and energetic when appropriate * appealing to both preteens and adults * influenced by Black American music and culture without feeling stereotypical or forced * strong enough that viewers could eventually recognize the show from the first few seconds of music I am open to the composer’s creative interpretation of what Puff Port should sound like. Potential musical influences could include elements of: * R&B * hip-hop * funk * soul * contemporary pop * light DMV influence if appropriate The goal is not to imitate any existing artist or television show. Expected Deliverables The final music package will likely include: 1. Main animated-series theme * approximately 20–30 seconds * instrumental or vocal depending on the final creative direction 2. Short sonic logo / opening sting * approximately 3–5 seconds * derived from the main theme 3. Scene-transition music * approximately 3–5 short stingers or transitions * examples could include: * upbeat/funny * thoughtful * energetic * emotional/warm * general scene transition 4. Closing/end-card version * approximately 5–10 seconds 5. Instrumental version of the main theme 6. Final mixed/mastered audio 7. Music stems * drums/percussion * bass * melody/instruments * vocals, if applicable * other useful production stems 8. Editable/source project files Potential Vocal Component I have not yet decided whether the main theme should include vocals. If you are also a songwriter, singer, rapper, or regularly collaborate with vocal talent, please let me know. If vocals are used, the lyrics should feel like part of a real television theme rather than an advertisement for the Puff Port helmet. Who I’m Looking For I’m especially interested in people with experience in: * animated series * television or streaming content * film scoring * game music * character-driven media * theme songs * children’s or family entertainment that does not sound overly juvenile * R&B, hip-hop, funk, soul, or related musical styles This project is open to talent worldwide. However, the series is centered on a Black American family in Bowie, Maryland, so cultural understanding and musical taste are important. What to Include in Your Proposal Please include: 1. 3–5 examples of your most relevant work 2. Any examples of: * television themes * animation music * character-driven music * R&B/hip-hop/funk/soul production 3. A brief explanation of how you would approach creating a recognizable musical identity for Puff Port 4. Whether you compose, produce, mix, and master everything yourself 5. Whether you work with vocalists 6. Your proposed fixed-price range for the full music package 7. Your estimated timeline 8. The number of revision rounds you normally include 9. Whether all stems and editable/source project files are included 10. Whether you use any stock music, licensed loops, AI-generated music, or third-party musical assets Ownership / Commercial Use Because this music may become part of the long-term Puff Port brand and animated series, I need broad commercial rights to use the commissioned music across: * future episodes * YouTube * TikTok * Instagram * Facebook * paid advertising * Kickstarter/crowdfunding * Puff Port website * promotional videos * live events * licensing opportunities * future media and products associated with Puff Port Final ownership and usage rights will be clearly defined in the project agreement. Selection Process I plan to review portfolios first and narrow the field to a small number of finalists. I may ask the top 1–2 candidates to complete a small paid music concept test, approximately 10–15 seconds, based on the Puff Port character and creative brief before awarding the full project. I am not requesting unpaid custom work. Please begin your proposal with “Puff Port Music” so I know you reviewed the full posting. I’m looking for someone who can help create a sound that could become recognizable as part of Puff Port for years.
