Conceptual Copywriter Who Thinks in Pictures — Fashion, Social & AI
Worldwide
WE DO NOT NEED MORE CONTENT. WE NEED STRANGE IDEAS DEVELOPED SHOT BY SHOT. Tourane is looking for an unusually imaginative conceptual copywriter or visual story writer on behalf of an established U.S. partywear brand. The client has fast product development and an internal AI image and video team capable of turning ambitious concepts into finished creative within days. The production capability is already in place. We need the person who invents what happens—and develops the idea into a detailed visual storyline our artists can execute from the first frame to the last. You may call yourself a conceptual copywriter, advertising creative, visual storyteller, scriptwriter, comedy writer, or idea generator. Your title matters less than the way your brain works. This is not a product-description, email-copy, SEO, social-caption, or conventional content-writing role. WHAT YOU WILL CREATE You will develop original concepts for short, social-first fashion videos and then turn selected ideas into production-ready visual scripts. The work will initially include: * Short visual narratives for TikTok, Instagram, and paid social * Recurring social formats with recognizable characters or story mechanics * Surreal product transformations * Fake or scripted street interviews with unexpected endings * Stories involving parties, dating, nightlife, college life, special occasions, and current culture * Occasional larger hero concepts involving impossible environments, landmarks, or transformations A one-sentence concept is only the beginning. For each approved idea, you will create an almost frame-by-frame or beat-by-beat storyline showing our artists exactly what the viewer sees and what happens next. A FINISHED VISUAL SCRIPT MAY INCLUDE * The central premise * The desired viewer reaction * The opening hook within the first one or two seconds * A timed sequence of every shot or story beat * Characters, locations, wardrobe, expressions, and physical actions * Camera framing, angles, movement, and changes in perspective * How and when the fashion product enters the story * The exact transformation, escalation, surprise, or twist * Transitions and visual continuity between shots * Dialogue, interview questions, voiceover, captions, or on-screen text * Music, sound effects, and important audio cues * The final payoff or memorable closing image * Alternative hooks, endings, or variations when useful * Visual references or rough storyboard frames where needed For example, it is not enough to write: “An ordinary street interview transforms into a surreal party.” We need the idea developed more like this: 0:00–0:02 — Handheld medium shot of a normal street interview. The interviewer asks a current, provocative question. 0:02–0:05 — The interviewee gives an unexpectedly confident or funny answer. Pedestrians continue walking normally behind her. 0:05–0:07 — The microphone begins reflecting colored light. The interviewee notices, but the interviewer continues as if nothing is happening. 0:07–0:10 — The light travels from the microphone onto the interviewee’s clothes. Her everyday outfit transforms into a party dress. 0:10–0:14 — The transformation spreads through the street. Storefronts become nightclub entrances, taxis become mirrored party cars, and pedestrians transform into dressed-up party guests. 0:14–0:18 — The camera pulls back as the interviewee walks through the transformed street like the main character of the night. 0:18–0:20 — Final product-focused image, visual payoff, and closing line. Some stories may be 10 seconds. Others may be 30–60 seconds. The important requirement is that the storyline is detailed, visually clear, and executable. THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR You probably: * Think in moving pictures, even though you work with words * Constantly imagine what happens next * Generate strange ideas compulsively * Enjoy humor, absurdity, exaggeration, transformation, and surprise * Can explain a strong concept in one sentence and then develop it shot by shot * Understand how to capture attention within the first two seconds * Know how to build escalation and deliver a memorable payoff * Can tell a complete story within 15–30 seconds * Understand what makes someone stop scrolling or send a video to a friend * Know how to keep the fashion product central to the story * Can produce ten different directions rather than polishing one predictable idea * Can take a founder’s unfinished thought and make it stranger, clearer, and more executable * Become more excited, not less, when told that traditional production limitations do not apply Fashion experience is useful but not essential. Interesting work in advertising, comedy, entertainment, film, music videos, gaming, social media, or experimental storytelling may be equally relevant. AI prompt-writing experience is helpful but not required. Your primary responsibility is the concept and visual storyline, not operating the production tools. THIS IS PROBABLY NOT A FIT IF Your work is mainly: * Product descriptions * Conventional brand messaging * SEO or blog writing * Email marketing * Generic UGC scripts * Standard “three reasons you need this” advertisements * Social captions and content calendars * Strategy presentations without original concepts * Vague creative treatments that leave the production team to invent the actual story * AI prompts without a strong narrative idea We are not looking for someone who simply writes more polished words around familiar ideas. We are looking for someone who invents situations, develops them scene by scene, and gives our artists a complete creative blueprint. HOW YOU WILL WORK You will collaborate with Tourane, the client, and the client’s internal AI image and video team. You may receive: * A fashion product * A cultural topic or occasion * A rough founder-generated seed idea * A character or location * A production constraint Your role will be to expand that starting point into multiple creative directions and then fully develop the strongest concept into a detailed visual script. You will remain involved while the artists produce the video, helping resolve story, continuity, pacing, and visual questions as the work develops. INITIAL ENGAGEMENT Tourane will begin with a small paid concept exercise for selected candidates. There will be no unpaid speculative assignment. The exercise will involve taking an existing seed idea and developing it into a complete, production-ready visual storyline for a short AI-generated video. The strongest candidate may continue into an ongoing freelance engagement developing weekly concepts, scripts, and recurring creative formats with the client’s team. The client’s identity, products, existing creative, and detailed production capabilities will be shared confidentially with shortlisted candidates. TO APPLY Please send: 1. A link to your portfolio 2. Three concept-led campaigns, films, scripts, or projects that best demonstrate how your mind works 3. A brief explanation of what you personally conceived or wrote for each 4. One self-initiated, rejected, or “too strange for the client” idea 5. An example of a visual script, storyboard, treatment, or scene-by-scene narrative you created, if available 6. A short explanation of why this combination of conceptual writing and fast AI production interests you Please begin your application with: I THINK SHOT BY SHOT Generic applications focused primarily on content writing will not be considered.
