Construction Attoreny/Legal specialist USA/Canada ( AIA contracts and payment disputes )

We are a General Contractor seeking an experienced construction attorney or legal consultant with experience in AIA (American Institute of Architects) Standard Form Contracts to advise and assist us with ongoing project payment disputes. We need immediate, strategic guidance on contract enforcement, payment applications, potential lien rights, or formal dispute mitigation. Key Responsibilities: Review our current project contract (specifically the standard AIA document suite and tailored amendments) alongside relevant payment applications, change orders, and correspondence. Evaluate our legal position regarding delayed payments, retainage, non-payment, or disputed withholding. Advise on potential legal remedies under the contract and applicable state law (e.g., prompt payment acts, mechanic’s liens, stop notices, or suspension of work clauses). Draft or refine legal correspondence, such as formal demand letters, notices of intent, or default notifications to project general contractors.
