Content & Community Coordinator

CONTENT & COMMUNITY COORDINATOR — WildAsia Adventures (Beyond the Trail) Employment type: Full-time, permanent (following a contract-to-hire trial period) Location: Remote, time zone GMT+7 to GMT+9 preferred Start pathway: Engaged initially on a freelance/contract basis, with conversion to permanent employment based on performance ABOUT THE ROLE Beyond the Trail is a growing editorial and community platform for riders exploring equestrian travel across Asia. We publish practical guidance, honest stories and welfare-conscious perspectives to help riders plan with confidence, and we are building an engaged audience across social media and our website. The Content & Community Coordinator will own day-to-day content operations and audience-building execution, turning an established content calendar, creative direction and brand standards into a consistently running content engine across social channels and the Beyond the Trail website. This role is the operational backbone between strategy, set by the founder, and delivery, produced by freelancers, contractors and service vendors. It suits someone who is highly organized, comfortable managing multiple external contributors at once, confident exercising judgment against clear brand and welfare guidelines, and motivated by building an audience from the ground up. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Content pipeline management Coordinate freelance videographers, editors, writers and service-firm vendors to keep content production on schedule. Track deliverables against production timelines and proactively flag delays or quality issues. Perform first-pass quality control on incoming content against brand, aesthetic and welfare guidelines before escalating or approving for publication. Maintain a simple content and source log covering what was produced, where footage came from, and usage approvals. Publishing and channel management Own the content calendar and posting workflow across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and the Beyond the Trail website and Journal. Schedule and publish content using the team's chosen scheduling tool, following agreed messaging and caption guidelines. Ensure captions, on-screen text, tags and links are accurate, on-brand and consistent with current guidelines. Monitor comments and direct messages for basic community management, escalating sensitive or welfare-related items to the founder. Reporting and audience insight Track core performance metrics, including views, engagement, saves, follower growth and email sign-ups, and produce a concise weekly summary. Monitor content performance trends and flag notable results or underperforming content types. Maintain email list segmentation and support newsletter and lead-magnet campaigns in coordination with the CRM. Vendor and freelancer coordination Act as the primary point of contact for active freelancers and service-firm partners during content production. Support onboarding of new freelancers, including circulating agreements, briefs and brand and welfare guidelines. Help track freelancer and vendor budgets against agreed fees and milestones. Standards and brand stewardship Apply established welfare, ethics, safety and environmental content guidelines when reviewing footage and copy. Escalate any content or sourcing question that falls outside clear-cut guidance to the founder rather than making an independent judgment call. Help maintain consistency in tone, visual style and messaging across all channels. WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR Final judgment on whether a location, partner or piece of content meets welfare, safety or ethics standards; this sits with the founder. Long-term brand strategy, partnership negotiation, or product and pricing decisions. Legal review of contracts or agreements. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 2 to 4 years of experience in social media coordination, content operations, digital marketing or a similar operational marketing role. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contributors, timelines and deliverables simultaneously without close supervision. Strong working knowledge of Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts content formats, scheduling tools such as Later, Buffer or Metricool, and basic analytics. Comfortable working with CRM or email platforms such as Klaviyo, Mailchimp or Kit for list segmentation and basic campaign support. Excellent written English for captions, community responses and internal reporting. High attention to detail and comfort applying structured guidelines consistently. Experience working with freelancers or external vendors preferred. PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED Familiarity with 360-degree or action-camera footage, such as Insta360, and vertical video editing basics, sufficient to assess quality and communicate effectively with video editors. Familiarity with or genuine interest in equestrian activities, animal welfare, or responsible and sustainable travel. Experience with content management systems such as WordPress or Squarespace for publishing articles or landing pages. Basic photo or video editing skills, such as Canva, CapCut or Premiere Pro, for minor content adjustments. Prior experience in a small team or startup environment requiring adaptability and initiative. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THE FIRST 90 DAYS Full ownership of the content calendar and posting workflow, with no gaps in scheduled publishing. Smooth coordination of all active freelancers and vendors with no missed deliverable deadlines attributable to coordination gaps. A functioning, documented content and source log in regular use. A clear, concise weekly reporting rhythm established and adopted. Demonstrated sound judgment in applying brand and welfare guidelines, with appropriate escalation of edge cases. COMPENSATION AND PROGRESSION Initial engagement will begin as a freelance or contract arrangement, with compensation aligned to market rates for a content or social coordinator role. Following a successful trial period, typically four to six weeks, the role is intended to convert to a full-time, permanent position with compensation and benefits confirmed at that stage based on performance and scope. This is an opportunity to help build a distinctive, welfare-led travel and community brand from its earliest stages, with a clear path to a permanent role shaping how that brand grows.
