Contract System — Enhancement & UX Improvement

We need to enhance the existing *Contract System* and improve its overall functionality, usability, and UI/UX while preserving all existing functionality and business logic. This should be treated as an enhancement to the existing Contract System, *not a complete rewrite*. ### Objective Carefully inspect the current Contract System and understand how contracts currently work throughout the application. The goal is to improve the existing contract workflow while maintaining compatibility with the current architecture, APIs, database structure, permissions, and related modules. ### Important: Inspect Existing Implementation First Before making any changes:  1.⁠ ⁠Inspect the complete Contract System.  2.⁠ ⁠Review the Contract listing page.  3.⁠ ⁠Review the Contract detail page.  4.⁠ ⁠Review contract creation/editing workflows.  5.⁠ ⁠Review all existing contract actions.  6.⁠ ⁠Review status and lifecycle logic.  7.⁠ ⁠Review assignment and user relationships.  8.⁠ ⁠Review permissions.  9.⁠ ⁠Review related APIs and services. 10.⁠ ⁠Review database models and existing relationships. 11.⁠ ⁠Review any contract documents/files. 12.⁠ ⁠Review how Contracts interact with other modules. Do not make assumptions about how the system works. First understand the existing implementation and then build the enhancement on top of it. ### Preserve Existing Logic This is extremely important. Any existing functionality that is already working must continue working exactly as expected unless the specific enhancement explicitly requires changing it. ### UI/UX Improve the Contract System so it follows the same professional UI/UX standards as the rest of the application. Review and improve where appropriate: •⁠ ⁠Listing layout. •⁠ ⁠Detail layout. •⁠ ⁠Information hierarchy. •⁠ ⁠Section organization. •⁠ ⁠Form layout. •⁠ ⁠Action placement. •⁠ ⁠Status presentation. •⁠ ⁠Assignment presentation. •⁠ ⁠Search/filter experience. •⁠ ⁠Empty states. •⁠ ⁠Loading states. •⁠ ⁠Error states. •⁠ ⁠Responsive behavior. Do not redesign everything unnecessarily. Improvements should feel like a natural evolution of the existing system. ### Contract Listing Review the main Contract listing and make sure users can quickly understand important contract information. Ensure the listing provides a clean and scannable experience. Review: •⁠ ⁠Contract identification. •⁠ ⁠Contract title/name. •⁠ ⁠Customer/project relationship. •⁠ ⁠Contract value where applicable. •⁠ ⁠Status. •⁠ ⁠Assignment. •⁠ ⁠Important dates. •⁠ ⁠Relevant actions. Use existing application patterns for tables, grids, filters, and actions. Do not add duplicate information if it is already available elsewhere. ### Contract Detail Review the Contract detail experience and improve the organization of information. Information should be logically grouped so users can quickly understand: •⁠ ⁠Contract information. •⁠ ⁠Related customer/project. •⁠ ⁠Contract status. •⁠ ⁠Assignment. •⁠ ⁠Financial information. •⁠ ⁠Important dates. •⁠ ⁠Documents/files. •⁠ ⁠Activity/history. •⁠ ⁠Related records. Use the existing application's established detail-page patterns. ### Actions Review all existing Contract actions. Actions should be: •⁠ ⁠Easy to discover. •⁠ ⁠Consistently positioned. •⁠ ⁠Permission-aware. •⁠ ⁠Consistent with other modules. Do not remove existing actions. If an action is moved or visually reorganized, its underlying functionality must remain unchanged. ### Permissions Permissions are a critical part of the existing system. Before making changes, understand how Contract permissions currently work. Make sure: •⁠ ⁠Existing permissions remain intact. •⁠ ⁠Users only see actions they are allowed to perform. •⁠ ⁠Unauthorized users cannot access restricted functionality through the UI. •⁠ ⁠Existing role-based behavior continues working. •⁠ ⁠No permission checks are bypassed. If the application uses shared permission services or live permission updates, reuse those mechanisms instead of creating a separate permission implementation. ### API & Backend Do not unnecessarily modify backend APIs. If the existing API already provides the required data, reuse it. Only introduce API/backend changes when genuinely required by the enhancement. Any backend changes must: •⁠ ⁠Follow existing API conventions. •⁠ ⁠Maintain backward compatibility where possible. •⁠ ⁠Avoid breaking existing consumers. •⁠ ⁠Follow existing validation and authorization patterns. ### Performance Do not introduce unnecessary performance problems. Make sure: •⁠ ⁠Tables do not cause unnecessary horizontal overflow. •⁠ ⁠Forms remain usable. •⁠ ⁠Actions remain accessible. •⁠ ⁠Detail sections adapt properly. •⁠ ⁠Long contract names and values do not break the layout. •⁠ ⁠Modals/popups remain usable on smaller screens. ### Code Quality Follow the existing project's architecture and conventions. •⁠ ⁠Reuse existing components. •⁠ ⁠Reuse existing services. •⁠ ⁠Reuse existing utilities. •⁠ ⁠Reuse existing permission mechanisms. •⁠ ⁠Avoid duplicate logic. •⁠ ⁠Avoid unnecessary refactoring. •⁠ ⁠Do not modify unrelated modules. •⁠ ⁠Keep the implementation maintainable. •⁠ ⁠Keep changes focused on the Contract System. ### Testing & Regression Protection After implementing the enhancement, verify: •⁠ ⁠Contract creation still works. •⁠ ⁠Contract editing still works. •⁠ ⁠Contract viewing still works. •⁠ ⁠Existing actions still work. •⁠ ⁠Permissions still work. •⁠ ⁠Search/filtering still works. •⁠ ⁠Status workflow still works. •⁠ ⁠Assignment still works. •⁠ ⁠Documents still work. •⁠ ⁠Activity/history still works. •⁠ ⁠Related records still work. •⁠ ⁠Existing APIs remain functional. •⁠ ⁠Responsive behavior works correctly. ### Acceptance Criteria The work is complete when: •⁠ ⁠The Contract System provides a noticeably better user experience. •⁠ ⁠Existing contract workflows remain intact. •⁠ ⁠Existing business logic is preserved. •⁠ ⁠Existing permissions continue working correctly. •⁠ ⁠UI follows the application's existing design system. •⁠ ⁠Contract listing and detail views are clean and easy to use. •⁠ ⁠Actions are intuitive and permission-aware. •⁠ ⁠Responsive behavior is correct. •⁠ ⁠No unnecessary backend/database changes are introduced. •⁠ ⁠No unrelated modules are affected. •⁠ ⁠No regressions are introduced. •⁠ ⁠The implementation is production-ready. *Most important:* Do not treat this as an opportunity to rewrite the Contract System. Understand the existing implementation first and make targeted, well-integrated enhancements while preserving everything that already works.
