Creative + Technical Startup Generalist / Founder’s Right Hand for Circadia
Worldwide
I’m looking for a creative, technical generalist to work closely with me on Circadia, a sleep-tech platform built around tracking and understanding unusual sleep patterns, especially circadian rhythm disorders. This is a little hard to describe because I’m not looking for a traditional virtual assistant. I’m looking for someone who can become my right hand, sounding board, idea person, organizer, community helper, and creative collaborator as Circadia grows. Some days I might need help organizing priorities or keeping me on track. Other days I might want you to look at a new feature and tell me whether the UX makes sense, brainstorm ideas with me, help make something look better, answer people in Discord, organize community activities, test something I’ve built, or tell me that an idea is unnecessarily complicated and there’s a better way to do it. I want someone who thinks with me, not just someone who waits for a list of tasks. What you might help with Depending on your strengths, this could include: • Brainstorming product features and new ideas • Acting as a sounding board for product and business decisions • Helping me prioritize projects and stay focused • Managing and engaging with our Discord and Facebook communities • Community events, prompts, activities, announcements, and general engagement • Looking at UI/UX and suggesting improvements • Helping with simple designs, graphics, mockups, or visual assets • Working in tools like Figma, Canva, Notion, etc. • QA and testing new features • Researching tools, products, competitors, or ideas • Helping organize projects and loose ends • Writing or editing community-facing content • Using AI tools to speed up research, ideation, design, organization, and other work • Generally jumping into whatever weird little problem needs solving that day You do not need to be an expert in all of these things. In fact, I’m specifically looking for a strong generalist rather than someone with one extremely narrow specialty. Who I’m hoping to find You’re probably a good fit if you: • Are very comfortable with technology • Learn new software quickly • Have good visual taste • Have at least some familiarity with UX/UI or product design • Are creative and regularly come up with ideas • Are organized enough to help organize someone else • Are comfortable giving your actual opinion • Can work independently without needing extremely detailed instructions • Notice problems and suggest solutions before being asked • Understand internet/community culture • Communicate casually and naturally • Are curious and enjoy figuring things out • Like small startups where everyone wears several hats Experience with Figma, community management, Discord, product design, startups, health tech, SaaS, graphic design, QA, project management, or AI tools is a big plus. Coding knowledge is also a bonus, but you do not need to be a software engineer. Very important: I don’t want a yes-person I genuinely want your opinions. If you think an idea is confusing, tell me. If you think there’s a better way to do something, pitch it. If you see an opportunity I haven’t noticed, bring it up. If I’m turning a simple feature into a seven-headed product-design hydra, please save me from myself. I want this to feel collaborative. What I’m hoping this becomes I’m not looking for someone to complete a handful of tasks and disappear. Ideally, I’d like to find someone who really clicks with me and Circadia and can become a long-term part of the project as it grows. A big part of the role is chemistry. We’ll be brainstorming, talking through ideas, solving problems, and working pretty closely together, so I want someone I genuinely enjoy working with. You don’t have to already know everything about sleep or circadian rhythms. Curiosity matters much more. To apply Please don’t send me a giant generic cover letter. I would much rather get a short, human response. Please answer these: 1. Take a look at Circadia (circadia.owlandkestrel.com) and tell me one thing you would improve, change, add, or experiment with. It can be product, design, community, positioning, anything. 2. Tell me about something you’ve built, designed, managed, organized, or gotten weirdly obsessed with. Personal projects count. 3. Imagine you were helping run our Discord and activity had gotten quiet for a week. What’s one thing you would try? 4. What parts of this role sound the most fun to you? 5. If you have examples of design work, Figma projects, communities you’ve managed, side projects, writing, or anything else relevant, feel free to send them. I’m much more interested in how you think, your taste, your curiosity, and whether we work well together than whether your résumé perfectly matches the role. I’ll likely start with a small paid trial project with a few people so we can both see whether the working relationship feels right.
