Custom Instrument Trays

We are a veterinary orthopedic implant designer and manufacturer seeking an experienced SolidWorks professional to support the development of new surgical instrument trays for our product systems. This project will require the complete design and engineering of instrument trays that securely organize, protect, and present implants and surgical instruments. The trays must be designed with manufacturability, durability, sterilization, usability, and operating room workflow in mind. The selected designer will be responsible for: Developing detailed 3D SolidWorks models of the instrument trays, inserts, lids, handles, brackets, and related components Creating organized layouts for implants and instruments based on their geometry and surgical use Accounting for sterilization, cleaning, drainage, ventilation, and handling requirements Evaluating clearances, tolerances, interference, stackability, and component accessibility Creating complete manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, materials, finishes, notes, and assembly details Developing assembly models, exploded views, bills of materials, and configuration-controlled drawing packages Revising designs based on prototype testing, manufacturing feedback, and internal review Maintaining organized SolidWorks files, part numbers, revisions, and design documentation Applicants must have expert-level SolidWorks experience and a strong understanding of mechanical design, sheet metal, machined components, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and design for manufacturing. Experience designing surgical instrument trays, sterilization cases, medical devices, orthopedic instruments, or similar precision products is strongly preferred. This is a time-sensitive project. We are looking for someone who can work efficiently, communicate clearly, and produce highly detailed, manufacturing-ready designs within an established project schedule. Applicants should provide examples of relevant SolidWorks projects, manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and products they have successfully brought from concept through production.
