Custom TCG Set Art and Design
Worldwide
I'm building a video game about running a collectibles shop, and I need an original trading card game to exist inside it. The cards are the heart of the game — players buy, price, grade, collect, and open packs of them — so the art carries a lot of weight. The main need is CARD ILLUSTRATION. I'm also open to collaborating on creature and card names, frame design, and rules text. Visual design is the priority, but if world-building is something you enjoy, there's room for it here. WHAT I NEED - Original card illustrations for a fictional set (see quantities below) - A CARD BACK design — this is a hero asset. It's on screen every time a player opens a pack, and it needs to look like a real product. - Optional / open to discussion: card frame design, set symbol, set name and identity, creature names, rules text STYLE Thinking a "mon" type game, with a vintage style feel to the art. However, open to suggestions - a sort of watercolor type style also sounds appealing. CRITICAL CONSTRAINT: these are viewed small. Card art appears at roughly 200 pixels wide in normal gameplay, and larger only when a player inspects a card. A composition with one clear focal subject and strong silhouette reads; a busy panoramic battle scene does not. I would rather have simpler art that reads at thumbnail size than complex art that turns to mush. The set needs internal identity — a viewer should be able to tell two cards belong to the same set without reading the text. How you'd establish that is something I'd like to hear about in your proposal. RARITY TIERS The game has eight rarity tiers. Higher rarities should feel visibly more special — through composition, colour, and detail, not just a different frame. I'd like your input on how to signal that. QUANTITY I want to start with a paid test card, then commit to a first batch. 80+ unique creatures + card back Would like each creature to have a "regular" and "full art" version. I'm okay if it is pretty much the same art if we can find a clever way to do so. I'm open to a smaller first batch with an option to extend. CREDIT Your name is printed on the card, in the artist credit line, exactly as is standard in real trading card games. Every card you illustrate carries your name inside the shipped game.
