Cybersecurity Consultant for Technical Validation

We're building a security monitoring platform and need an experienced cybersecurity consultant to validate our technical approach and provide ongoing guidance to our development team. This is an advisory role, not a hands-on build role. You'll review our architecture decisions, sanity-check detection and vulnerability management configurations, and help our developers avoid common pitfalls as they build. What we need help with: Reviewing our current detection stack setup and flagging gaps, misconfigurations, or blind spots Advising on realistic detection accuracy, false-positive management, and tuning strategy Sanity-checking our approach to vulnerability scanning and coverage Guiding our dev team on best practices for SIEM/EDR integration and alert correlation Weighing in on endpoint protection strategy and how it fits into a broader security stack General "second opinion" advisory as technical decisions come up — a sounding board with real field experience Ideal background: 5+ years hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (Wazuh, Splunk, Elastic, or similar), EDR/XDR tools, and vulnerability scanners (OpenVAS/Greenbone, Nessus, Qualys, or similar) Real-world SOC analyst, security engineer, or vCISO experience — not just certifications Comfortable reviewing technical configurations and giving direct, practical feedback Available for periodic calls with our dev team (async feedback also welcome) Bonus: experience with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, NIST, SOC 2) or cyber insurance underwriting requirements How to apply: Please share a brief note on your relevant experience with SIEM/EDR/vulnerability management tools and your approach to advising a dev team building out a security monitoring capability.
