Data Verification Assistant — Utility Account Logins & Autopay Check (Excel)

Summary

Otter Learning operates early-education schools across the southeastern United States. Every school has its own utility accounts — internet, phone, electricity, gas, water, sewer, trash, security monitoring and fire safety — and over the years the login details for those accounts have drifted out of date. We have built a spreadsheet that holds what we know. We need someone methodical to go through it, confirm what still works, and flag what doesn't. This is careful, repetitive verification work. It is not complicated, but it rewards patience and precision. If you like closing out a list cleanly, you will do well at it. **What you'll be doing** You'll work through a spreadsheet of about 280 accounts. For each one: 1. Open the provider's website and sign in with the username and password on file. 2. If you get in — confirm the account is set to pay automatically, note which payment method is on file (bank account or card) and note the billing due date. Fill in any blank columns you can see from inside the account: the account number, the registered email address, whether two-factor authentication is switched on and where the code is sent, and a billing contact name, email or phone if the site shows one. 3. Make sure the website column holds a working link that goes straight to the login page, so the next person doesn't have to search for it. 4. Mark the row confirmed. 5. If you can't get in — highlight the whole row in red and write in the Notes column exactly what stopped you. We need the reason, not just the fact. "Password rejected" and "logged in but it wants a code sent to a phone we don't have" are two different problems and we handle them differently. **What we'll give you** - The spreadsheet, with one tab per service and an identical set of columns on every tab. - A "Read me" tab and a "Column guide" tab explaining what belongs in each column. - A "Worklist" tab that ranks the rows. **Start at priority 4 and work down.** Priorities 1 to 3 are questions for our finance team to settle, not for you — please skip them. - Some columns are already filled in blue. Blue means the value came from our accounting records. **Do not overwrite anything blue.** If what you see in the portal disagrees with it, leave the blue value alone and say so in Notes — that disagreement is genuinely useful to us. **What we're looking for** - Comfortable in Excel and disciplined about staying inside the column structure. No reformatting, no extra columns, no reordering rows. - Careful with detail. A transposed account number costs us more time than it saves. - Reliable, consistent daily output. We would rather have four solid hours a day every day than one heroic day and then silence. - Clear written English — the Notes column is how you talk to us. - Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement. This work involves account credentials for a company that looks after children, and we take that seriously. You will be asked not to store, copy, forward or reuse anything you see. **Nice to have** - Prior experience with US utility or telecom billing portals. - Experience with accounts payable or bookkeeping support. **Hours and duration** We have budgeted **40 hours for this first block of work**, to run over about one week. If it goes well there is a good chance of continuing — we have a second block of similar work behind this one, and we are separately looking for ongoing help with invoice processing. **How we'll judge it** At the end of the 40 hours we're looking for every row you touched to be either confirmed or red-flagged with a reason. A row left half-done is worse than a row not started, so please finish each one before moving on.
