Design Display Backdrop for Ai4
Worldwide
We are seeking a skilled designer to create a visually appealing display backdrop for our booth at the Ai4 conference in Las Vegas. The backdrop should effectively communicate our brand identity and attract attendees. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing for events and a strong portfolio showcasing previous work. This is a part-time project with a short-term engagement with potential for engagement on other projects if executed well. # Creative Brief: 10' × 20' Event Backdrop **Client:** A14 **Product/Story Focus:** Axe Compute **Venue:** AI Conference — booth/keynote backdrop **Format:** 10 ft (H) × 20 ft (W) backdrop — booth/keynote/step-and-repeat wall --- ## 1. Project Overview A14 needs a large-format backdrop for the AI Conference floor that makes the overall value of Axe Compute legible in under 5 seconds, from across a hall, to someone who has never heard of it. This isn't a data-dump wall — it's a single, confident idea rendered at scale, and that idea leans hard into **build**: Axe Compute exists so builders can go from idea to running AI product without fighting their infrastructure. *Assumption:* I still don't have A14's formal brand guidelines (logo files, exact hex codes, approved type), so this brief locks the message and layout logic and leaves visual assets as placeholders to swap in. ## 2. Objective - Primary: communicate Axe Compute's overall value prop through the lens of **building** — this is the platform builders reach for to actually ship AI, not just experiment with it. - Secondary: reinforce A14 as the parent brand without competing for attention. - Tertiary: support photo-ops — the wall should look good behind a person standing at the podium or in step-and-repeat photos, and hold its own in conference-hall photos/social posts. ## 3. Audience AI Conference floor traffic — largely builders, engineers, and technical decision-makers who are compute-literate and desensitized to generic "powerful AI infra" claims. They respond to specificity and to signals that a platform is built *for* building, not just for demoing. 80% will only ever see this from 15-30 ft away for 2-3 seconds — design for that distance first, detail second. ## 4. Message Hierarchy (top to bottom priority) 1. **Headline** — the value prop, framed as a build statement, not a feature list. Direction: "Build on compute that doesn't get in your way." / "Where builders take AI from idea to production." / "The compute layer for what you're building next." (replace with A14's actual preferred phrasing) 2. **Product lockup** — Axe Compute logo/wordmark, presented as powered by / from A14 3. **One supporting proof point**, framed around building — e.g. "From prototype to production in one platform" or a real stat (deploy time, scale headroom, uptime) — optional, only if it's a real, defensible claim 4. **A14 logo** — small, bottom corner or bottom-center, consistent brand anchor point Everything else (feature lists, QR codes, taglines) is noise at this scale. Cut ruthlessly — "build" should come through in one line, not three. ## 5. Visual Concept Direction Two directions, both built around the "build" idea rather than generic AI/compute imagery: **Direction A — "From idea to shipped"** A single horizontal progression reads left to right across the full 20 ft: a sparse, rough mark (sketch line, single node, a blueprint-style dashed shape) on the left gradually resolves into a solid, confident, fully-formed mark (a clean geometric block, a lit-up node cluster, or the completed Axe wordmark) on the right. This visually is the build journey — raw idea to production — without needing a single word of explanation. Headline sits centered or right-weighted, landing right where the mark resolves. **Direction B — "Foundation up"** Vertical build metaphor: a base layer of stacked geometric blocks/modules anchors the bottom of the wall (literal foundation), with the headline rising above it like something constructed on top. Compute imagery (nodes, chips, racks) is abstracted into the "blocks" rather than shown literally. Works well if A14 wants the booth's physical structure (podium, demo stations) to visually read as "standing on" the wall. Recommendation: Direction A reads faster at 20 ft width, tells the build story in a single glance without literal construction clichés, and photographs cleanly behind speakers. Default to it unless A14 specifically wants the booth structure integrated into the metaphor, in which case use Direction B. ## 6. Layout & Safe Zones (10' × 20', portrait tiles or single seamless print) - **Grommet/pole-pocket safe margin:** keep all text/logos 6" in from every edge - **Podium zone:** center 6 ft width, bottom 5 ft — assume a person will stand here; keep headline weighting to upper-left or upper-right two-thirds, not dead center, so it isn't blocked - **Sight-line zone:** primary message should sit between 3 ft and 8 ft off the ground (typical standing eye-level to overhead sign-line) - **Repeat interval (if step-and-repeat style):** logo lockup repeating every 4-5 ft horizontally if this wall doubles as a photo backdrop ## 7. Typography & Color (placeholder — replace with A14 brand system) - Headline: single bold sans-serif, tight tracking, all one weight (no mixed weights at this scale) - Minimum headline height at 20ft width: ~18-24" tall letters to read from 30+ ft - Color: one dominant background + one accent color + white/off-white type. Avoid more than 3 colors total — anything busier disappears at distance. ## 8. Technical Print Specs - Finished size: 10' × 20' (120" × 240") - Bleed: add 1" all sides minimum - File resolution: 150 DPI at full size is standard for large-format (300 DPI unnecessary and bloats file size at this scale); vector source (AI/EPS/SVG) preferred for logo and type elements - Material: tension fabric (best for seamless, wrinkle-resistant, packs small) or vinyl banner (cheaper, less premium look) — fabric recommended for a premium AI-brand feel - Mounting: pole pocket top/bottom for tension fabric systems, or grommets every 24" for vinyl - Color mode: CMYK, and confirm with printer whether they need a specific color profile for fabric dye-sublimation (colors shift on fabric vs vinyl — request a physical proof swatch before full print) ## 9. Open Questions for A14 (needed before final design) 1. What's the exact "build" claim we can stand behind — e.g. build speed, build flexibility (any model/framework), or build-to-production reliability? The headline should be specific, not generic "build faster" language. 2. Do we have brand guidelines (logo files, color hex codes, approved fonts) for both A14 and Axe Compute? 3. Is this backdrop standing alone, or behind a podium/demo station at the AI Conference booth? (affects the safe-zone layout) 4. Fabric tension wall or vinyl banner — is there a printer/vendor already selected with their own spec sheet? 5. Any required elements we haven't accounted for (conference sponsor logos, QR code, social handle, booth number)? 6. Is there a live demo happening at this booth that the wall should visually set up or reference (e.g. "watch it build live")? ## 10. Next Steps Once brand assets and the answers above are in hand, this brief converts directly into a one-page design mockup (Direction A or B) sized to exact vendor specs for production.
