Design the ground bed and containment structure for the heated-water section of an outdoor agricultural rig. Fully remote design engagement, deliverables are drawings and documents only; we build on-site from your package. The system: a clear 6-mil polyethylene film tube, 14 ft lay-flat (approx. 9 ft floor contact width when inflated and loaded), 80 ft long, holds a shallow water pool 2 to 3 cm deep along its floor. Water load: approx. 4 to 6 lb per sq ft, 330 to 500 gallons total, 3,000 to 4,500 lbs distributed. The tube sits on rigid foam insulation boards (1.5 inch foil-faced EPS, 4 ft x 8 ft sheets) over a leveled dirt pad. Site: full sun, wind gusts, dusty. Design problem 1: Bed and containment frame (the core task): Foam boards must stay aligned, flat, under the water load. Thermal cycling board joints cannot create steps or gaps that pool water inside the tube (pool depth tolerance: plus or minus 5 mm over the full 80 ft) Design a perimeter containment or curb system that: holds the board field together, protects foam edges from foot traffic and weather, and gives the tube floor a defined cradle. A slight raised rim is acceptable, note that the water in wind sloshes slightly. Materials: off-the-shelf lumber, plastic, EMT conduit, or similar; must assemble with hand tools or can use specialty tool is efficiency gain makes sense. Target under 10 dollars per linear foot; provide specs how it anchors on a dirt pad (no concrete). Account for foam brittleness in handling and a serviceable design, how hard to replace boards. Ground interface: The pad is graded native dirt, leveled to plus or minus 1/4 inch, lightly compacted. Your design must include a separation layer between soil and foam. Options to evaluate: woven or nonwoven geotextile underlayment, poly sheet as a ground vapor barrier, and/or a thin screeded sand leveling layer (1/2 to 1 inch) beneath the fabric. Design problem 2: Water ports (details only, small scope): Feed inlet: 1/2 inch through-wall bulkhead fitting through 6-mil film, high on the tube sidewall, include reinforcement (doubler patch) spec (if needed), fitting selection, torque and sealing guidance. Drain outlet: 1/2 inch low-point drain detail at the pool floor level for periodic flush-out, same reinforcement approach, plus routing to a hose. Deliverables: dimensioned drawings (simple CAD or clean sketches), BOM with purchase links and prices, assembly instructions an untrained two-person crew can follow, and a leveling-and-verification procedure (we use a water-fill test on site). Acceptance = payment: we build one 30-ft test section from your documents; boards stay flat and aligned under water load, ports seal leak-free, pool depth within tolerance. One revision cycle included for documentation gaps. Strong performance leads to follow-on design packages on the same rig.
