Summary

I am seeking an experienced developmental and copy editor for a forthcoming professional book, The Future of Carbon Finance, focused on financing nature-based carbon projects and developing the infrastructure necessary to attract institutional capital. This is a highly technical finance book, written with contributions from leading practitioners across institutional finance, carbon markets, law, insurance, project development, and investment structuring. The intended audience includes investors, banks, insurers, lawyers, project developers, corporations, governments, and other climate-finance professionals. The book is approximately 350+ page, or 125K words. It examines topics like carbon project finance, investment readiness, due diligence, project economics, bankable offtake agreements, contractual risk allocation, insurance, SPVs and governance, and the risks institutional investors must evaluate when investing in nature-based carbon projects. The book will be published digitally as a reflowable eBook and PDF. I already have a graphic designer handling the book design, layout, and production, so this assignment is specifically focused on the editorial work. Scope The work will involve both developmental editing and detailed copy editing, including: Improving structure, flow, clarity, and transitions Identifying repetition and inconsistencies across chapters Ensuring complex concepts are clearly explained without oversimplifying them Improving sentence-level clarity, grammar, syntax, and readability Maintaining consistent terminology and professional tone throughout Helping create a cohesive book despite contributions from multiple experts Identifying and removing any AI-generated text It is particularly important that the editor can distinguish between an editorial issue and a substantive technical issue. Technical meaning must be preserved, with questions flagged rather than inadvertently rewritten. Ideal Background I am looking for someone with substantial experience editing technical nonfiction for sophisticated professional audiences, ideally involving finance, investment, banking, project finance, law, economics, insurance, climate finance, carbon markets, or related fields. You do not need to be a carbon-market expert, but you should be comfortable working with sophisticated financial, legal, and investment concepts. When applying, please provide examples of comparable books or professional publications you have edited, briefly describe your role, and indicate your availability, estimated turnaround time, and hourly rate or fixed-fee estimate. Half the book is ready for editing immediately and the other half will be ready in about one week. Please also identify the most technically sophisticated finance, legal, or professional publication you have edited. The manuscript is highly confidential and may not be shared or used as a portfolio sample without permission.
