Documentary Video Editor – YouTube Documentary Channel | Real Life Lore / Cognizge Style
Worldwide
I’m looking for a video editor for a long-term collaboration on a new YouTube channel focused on geography, history, geopolitics and interesting facts. The editing style I’m aiming for is similar to channels like RealLifeLore, Cognizge, and other high-quality documentary channels: dynamic, visual, engaging and cinematic, with strong pacing and lots of visual storytelling. What I provide For each video, you will receive: * The final voice-over * The script * A partially edited video * All the geography/map animations already created in GeoLayers The workflow is quite simple: the video already contains the map sections I create myself. When the screen is grey, it means you need to replace that section with the appropriate visual content. When the map animation is playing, you leave it as is. You do not need to know GeoLayers — I handle all the map animations myself. I will also provide a sample/reference video in the job post showing exactly the type of editing, pacing, visuals, transitions and sound design I’m looking for. This should make the expected style and quality very clear before you apply. Your responsibilities You will be responsible for everything outside of the map animations, including: * Finding and selecting relevant stock footage, archival footage, photos and other visual assets * Creating an engaging and dynamic documentary-style edit * Smooth and creative transitions * Motion graphics and simple animations where appropriate * Text and graphic elements * Sound design * SFX * Music selection and editing * Making the video feel cinematic and immersive * Maintaining strong pacing and visual variety throughout the video The goal is not simply to put footage over the voice-over. I want someone who understands visual storytelling and knows how to make every part of the narration visually interesting. Video format * 10–15 minute YouTube videos * Content is currently in English * Geography / history / geopolitics / educational documentary content * References: RealLifeLore, Cognizge, etc. Who I’m looking for I’m looking for an intermediate-level editor who already has experience with this type of content. You should be comfortable with: * Documentary / educational YouTube editing * Finding appropriate footage * Pacing and storytelling * Sound design * Music * Motion graphics / animations * Creating visually engaging sequences from narration You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but attention to detail and visual creativity are very important. Portfolio Please include your portfolio/relevant examples when applying. I especially want to see: * Documentary-style YouTube videos * Educational / geography / history content * Strong visual storytelling * Good sound design * Creative editing and motion graphics Please don’t send a portfolio with only unrelated content such as gaming montages, wedding videos, etc. Long-term opportunity This is a new channel, so the current budget is relatively limited. However, I’m looking for someone interested in a long-term collaboration, not just a one-off project. As the channel grows and generates better results, the budget can increase accordingly. I’m looking for someone I can work with consistently and build the channel with over time. Application Please send: 1. Your portfolio 2. 2–3 examples that best represent your documentary/YouTube editing skills 3. Your price for a 10–15 minute video 4. A brief description of your experience with documentary-style YouTube editing 5. Your availability / how many videos you could realistically edit per month Please watch the sample/reference video included in this job post before applying, as it represents the style and quality I’m looking for.
