Summary

We are looking for an experienced editorial designer to redesign Countless Journeys , a premium, full-color travel publication. The existing brochure is 106 pages and was built using a stock template. Although the content foundation is strong, the layouts feel repetitive across its seven major sections. Following planned content edits and consolidation, the redesigned publication is expected to be approximately 75 to 85 pages. This is not simply a formatting or cleanup project. We need a designer with strong editorial judgment who can introduce fresh creative direction, engaging visual pacing, and meaningful variety throughout a long-form publication. About the Publication Format: 8.5 × 11-inch portrait pages with 11 × 17-inch facing-page spreads Printing: Full-color professional print production Binding: To be confirmed, likely perfect or PUR perfect binding Software: Adobe InDesign Final deliverables: Print-ready PDF and fully packaged, editable InDesign source files The audience includes loyal, often multigenerational clients, past clients we would like to re-engage, and new referrals. They are higher-end travelers planning meaningful vacations, celebrations, and bucket-list journeys. Our goal is to create an evergreen publication that clients will keep, revisit, and share. It should feel more like a premium travel magazine or coffee-table publication than a traditional travel catalog. Desired Creative Direction The publication should feel: • Personal and relationship-driven • Sophisticated and inspiring • Premium but approachable • Distinctive and unexpected • Cohesive without becoming repetitive • Unmistakably connected to the Cruise Dreams brand We want to avoid the predictable structure of section divider, headline, sales copy, bullet list, and repeat. The redesigned publication should use varied typography, photography treatments, white space, visual hierarchy, and page-to-page pacing. Some content may become dramatic two-page spreads, while other pages may be quiet and minimal. Information may also work better as editorial features, comparisons, sidebars, pull quotes, testimonials, or visual stories. Planned Content Changes The revised publication will include: • Consolidation of repetitive pages and messaging • One strong “Why Cruise Dreams” narrative • A “Meet Kim” founder story near the beginning • A short timeline showing how the company and its travel offerings have grown • Recurring “Kim’s Pick” editorial callouts • Authentic client stories and testimonials throughout the major sections • Distinctive section openers with different layout approaches • Removal or relocation of time-sensitive content • A stronger final call to action • More personality and Cruise Dreams-specific storytelling The selected designer will receive the current 106-page brochure, revised copy, brand assets, photography, and detailed editorial recommendations. Required Experience We are specifically looking for demonstrated experience designing long-form publications such as: • Magazines • Luxury brochures • Product catalogs • Lookbooks • High-end print collateral • Publications of approximately 50 to 150 pages or more Experience with luxury travel, hospitality, cruise, resort, lifestyle, or premium consumer brands is highly desirable. Advanced Adobe InDesign expertise is required, including: • Parent and master pages • Paragraph and character styles • Editorial grids and typography systems • Long-document workflows • Image management • CMYK color and bleed setup • Preflight and quality control • Packaged source files • Professional print-ready PDF production What We Will Evaluate We will evaluate your: • Creative direction • Editorial judgment • Typography • Photography treatment • Visual hierarchy • Use of white space • Page-to-page pacing • Ability to elevate an existing brand without losing its personality To Apply Please include: Two to four examples of long-form publications you personally designed, preferably projects of 50 pages or more. A brief explanation of your role and creative contribution to each relevant project. Details about your professional print-production experience. Confirmation that you work in Adobe InDesign and can provide fully packaged, editable source files. Your estimated timeline and budget range for redesigning a 75 to 85-page publication. Please prioritize relevant editorial and long-form publication work. Portfolios focused mainly on logos, social media graphics, websites, Canva templates, single-page flyers, or short brochures will not be considered a strong match.
