I’m an experienced educator, school leader, coach, and consultant who already runs a small education-focused consulting/advising business. I’m looking for a coach who can help me become much more intentional and disciplined about business development — particularly identifying, prioritizing, nurturing, and converting leads into meaningful work. I am not starting a business from scratch, and I’m not looking for someone to simply rewrite my résumé, LinkedIn profile, or website. I have a strong professional network, existing clients, multiple areas of expertise, and plenty of ideas. What I need is someone who can help me focus, execute, reflect, and adjust. What I Want to Work On I want a coach who can help me: * Get much more strategic about where my next clients and opportunities should come from * Look at my existing relationships and leads and determine who I should be talking to, why, and what the next move should be * Prioritize opportunities rather than chasing everything that seems interesting * Create realistic weekly/monthly business-development goals and actually execute them * Strengthen how I follow up, maintain relationships, ask for introductions, and turn conversations into opportunities * Think through how speaking, writing, networking, partnerships, and thought leadership support the larger business * Develop a repeatable rhythm of plan → try → reflect → adjust I don’t want someone handing me a giant sales funnel and telling me to send 100 cold emails. Relationships matter enormously to me, and they are central to how I work. I want to grow through authentic relationships while becoming considerably more strategic about how I cultivate them. The Coach I’m Looking For Ideally, you have proven success coaching consultants, educational leaders, or small professional-services businesses, with particular experience in education. I value someone who can move between the big picture and the details: What is the vision? Where are we trying to go? Who are the right people to build relationships with? What am I going to do this week? Did I actually do it? What happened? What did we learn? What should I try next? I want someone who will challenge me when I’m spreading myself too thin, help me recognize opportunities I’m overlooking, and hold me accountable for following through. Values Fit Is Important My work is grounded in public education, belonging, inclusion, educational equity, advocacy for students and families, educator professionalism, and intellectual freedom. I strongly oppose efforts to censor educators or prevent schools from affirming and supporting marginalized young people. I need a coach who is genuinely comfortable with those commitments. If your professional or personal approach is fundamentally at odds with them, we won’t be a good fit. When You Apply Please tell me: * What experience do you have coaching education consultants, educational leaders, or other relationship-driven professional-services businesses? * Give me an example of a client you helped move from having lots of ideas/opportunities to a focused, executable business-development strategy. * How have you helped someone become better at developing and converting leads without relying primarily on cold outreach? * What does accountability look like in your coaching? * How do you help a client decide what NOT to pursue? * What makes you think you and I would work well together? Please don’t send a generic coaching proposal. I’m looking for someone with demonstrated results, strong judgment, curiosity, and a coaching approach built around both relationships and execution.
