Electrical Engineer for Cleanroom Design
Worldwide
CES is a 40-year commercial and industrial engineering firm serving as the electrical/mechanical engineering partner on modular cleanroom and critical-environment projects. We're building a bench of engineers we can hand a project to and trust to drive the design largely independently, as an extension of our team. Representative active projects: - USP 797/800 compounding pharmacies and other cleanroom / critical-environment builds - Mission-critical data center cleanrooms — modular server/fiber-optic assembly cleanrooms and high-density test rooms (e.g., ~100 server racks at varying loads) - Radiological isotope processing cleanrooms ("hot cell" facilities) — ISO 7 / ISO 8 containment cleanrooms with continuous pressure monitoring and alarms surrounding a shielded hot cell What you'll do: - Take a project handoff and own the electrical and controls design from concept through construction documents - Electrical load schedules and equipment-voltage requirements for AHUs, exhaust fans, FFUs, controls, dampers, monitors, and alarms -Power distribution and service coordination (e.g., confirming a 120/208V three-phase basis), disconnects, starters, VFDs, control panels, branch circuits, and emergency-power connections - Controls and alarm design for containment environments, including: - Differential-pressure monitoring between spaces (warehouse ↔ ante room ↔ ISO 7 processing room) - Loss-of-negative-pressure, supply/exhaust-fan-failure, and HEPA-filter differential-pressure alarms - High/low temperature and humidity alarms, emergency-power/UPS/standby status alarms - Alarm annunciation, event logging, BMS interface, interlocks, and fail-safe control sequences - Produce a preliminary alarm and control matrix (initiating condition → alarm response → mechanical response → local annunciation → remote signal → reset method → emergency-power requirement) - Lighting and equipment power, grounding/bonding (including considerations for radiological environments), and coordination with the mechanical design and with cleanroom/hot-cell vendors Required: - Proven electrical (and ideally controls/BMS) design experience on cleanrooms, data centers, labs, healthcare, or other critical-environment facilities - Strong command of the NEC and applicable electrical/energy codes - Ability to work independently and deliver permit-ready documents with minimal oversight - Fluent with electrical design/drafting tooling (AutoCAD/Revit MEP) and power-system calc software Strongly preferred: - Active PE license (Any state is acceptable) - Experience with cleanroom monitoring/alarm systems, differential-pressure controls, emergency/standby power, data center power, or radiological/nuclear containment environments How we work: - Project-by-project contracts, each scoped and priced on its own - Remote is fine; occasional site coordination can be arranged - Goal is an ongoing relationship — engineers we come back to project after project Rate: Competitive and negotiable based on scope and complexity of each project. Please propose your terms. To apply, tell us: 1. A cleanroom / data center / containment project you designed and your specific role (electrical and/or controls) 2. Whether you hold a PE license and in which states 3. Your typical turnaround and preferred engagement (fixed-fee per project vs. hourly)
