VP of Email Deliverability (70M+ emails per month)
Worldwide
We build and run demand generation for financial services at very high volume — outbound, data infrastructure, AI, calling and paid ads. Business funding, merchant processing, tax credits, pre-IPO and more. The email side of that is roughly 70 million sends a month, across about 30,000 domains and 200,000 mailboxes, on Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Azure, and private SMTP. The role You own whether that mail lands, and whether it gets answered. Today nobody owns it end to end, and it is the highest-leverage seat in the business: everything downstream — the data, the copy, the AI, the callers, the meetings — is priced off what percentage of our sends reach a human who replies. Reports to the CEO. Your #1 KPI Lift. Reply rate and inbox placement, measured before and after every change you make, per provider, per domain pool and per offer. Not a monitoring dashboard that stays green — a number that moves because of something you did, and that you can prove you did. What you'll be doing • Owning placement on each sending surface separately — Google, Microsoft/Azure and private SMTP fail differently, at different volumes, for different reasons, and they do not share a fix. • Running the domain and mailbox lifecycle at our scale: pools and rotation, warmup, per-domain send budgets, retirement before a domain burns, and the replacement supply that keeps volume flat while it happens. • Reading the copy. Spam-trigger language, near-duplicate scripts across campaigns, message fingerprints, HTML and link structure, subject lines, sending patterns. You give copy feedback and we act on it — the writers report into a different seat and still take your notes. • Designing and running the tests. A live A/B at all times, one variable, sized to reach significance before it starts, and killed on the number rather than on the story. • Diagnosing below the dashboard: seed and placement tests, headers and hops, provider error codes, spam-folder sampling, read and reply behaviour by cohort. "Is the domain blacklisted" is where a check begins, not where an answer comes from. • Building the reporting the rest of the company reads without asking you — placement and reply rate by provider, pool, campaign and copy variant, daily. • Writing the standard and holding it: sending policy, warmup schedule, per-domain budgets, rotation and kill rules. What you need • 3+ years owning deliverability for B2B cold outbound. Not e-commerce, not B2C, not transactional or lifecycle mail — this style of email is the entire job and nothing else transfers cleanly. • You have run this shape of infrastructure yourself: tens of thousands of domains and six figures of mailboxes, hands-on in Instantly or an equivalent multi-workspace sending platform. One enterprise ESP and a warm opted-in list is a different sport. • Depth on both halves. Infrastructure — DNS, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX and routing, provider-specific behaviour, IP and domain reputation. And content — how spam classifiers, fingerprinting and complaint signals actually read a cold email. • Genuinely data-driven. You ask for the denominator before the strategy, you size a test before you run it, and you will call your own result noise when it is. • You ask the right question first. The best work in this seat is finding the question nobody thought to ask, before touching a single setting. • You pull your own numbers — SQL, spreadsheets and APIs at this row count, without waiting on anyone. What this is not Running blacklist checks and forwarding a Postmaster Tools screenshot. If the process starts and ends with IP and domain reputation lookups, this seat will be frustrating for both of us. Compensation $90,000 base. $150,000 OTE — the difference is performance bonus, paid against lift in reply rate and deliverability. Full-time, remote. This is a performance company. Output is visible and results are measured. Apply with one deliverability number you moved: the metric, its denominator, the size of the pool it ran on, what you changed, and how you knew it was your change and not the week.
