Embedded Firmware & Avionics Engineer
Worldwide
Join our team to develop and integrate embedded firmware for avionics systems. You'll work on designing, testing, and optimizing firmware for various avionics components, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance and reliability. This role requires a strong understanding of embedded systems and avionics. You will own the firmware stack running on an ESP32-S3 (FreeRTOS) application processor, integrate diagnostic interfaces with a Lattice MachXO2 FPGA (Verilog), interface with PIC16 Bus Guardian MCUs, and manage high-speed USB CDC telemetry streaming to glass cockpit displays. Key ResponsibilitiesESP32-S3 Firmware Architecture and write production-grade, multi-threaded C/C++ firmware using ESP-IDF v5.x on FreeRTOS. High-Speed USB Telemetry Pipeline implement low-latency USB-OTG CDC bulk-endpoint transfers to stream real-time timestamped CAN telemetry to host devices. FPGA & Bus Guardian Integration: Write SPI master drivers to read real-time diagnostic register maps (frame counters, inhibit events) from a Lattice MachXO2 FPGA, and I2C drivers to communicate with dual PIC16 Bus Guardian MCUs. Peripheral & System Management: Develop FATFS storage routines for high-speed black-box event logging onto MicroSD. Implement UART drivers for dedicated FSC-BT616 BLE module integration. Program eFuse current-limit monitoring (TPS25942) and power management logic. Implement GPIO PWM lighting controls and optoisolator pilot event marker debouncing. Hardware Bring-Up & Verification: Work with logic analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and CAN bus tools (Peak PCAN-USB, Kvaser, Vector) to test, debug, and validate hardware functionality.
